| General Overview | Smithers is an established Science Officer and has a wonderful family which makes him very proud and Happy. At times he can be very serious and at others the life of the party. He does Love to investigate new Botany, Geologic, and Archaeological findings. Often his best friend and Coworker Grainger joins in. He cares deeply about others to a point. Sometimes he must be told no or reminded of the risks that he is taking. Even though he is semi-retired if the mission is very important to the Federation, he has an interest in joining. | |
| Strengths & Weaknesses | Smithers is very curious and pays a high attention to detail. Both are an asset. He does get passionate about things and will even put his life in danger to help a fellow crew member or family member. Sometimes when a problem doesn't present an easy answer he will just try over and over again at all hours. It's rare that this happens but a gentle touch and a few words breaks him out of the spell. Smithers is very proper and prepares before receiving any ambassadors. He is very diplomatic and good to have on a team if needed. | |
| Ambitions | Smithers inspires others to be the best that they can be and to follow there dream. He has the highest hopes for his children. His ambition is to help his children with theirs. For many years Smithers daughter Jennifer wanted to follow in his footsteps but not necessarily doing it in Starfleet. His son Lewis has gone into the Engineering field. Mostly into repair and restoration of smaller spacecraft like shuttles and personal transportation ships and or ground vehicles. | |

| Personal History | Ever since he was little Smithers has wanted to reach for the stars. His Love of Science and Adventure comes from his intense Curiosity of everything and the details that go along with it. He grew up at his family’s home at Eagle Harbor, Upper Peninsula, Michigan, Great Lakes Area, Earth, Sol System. When his parents passed away, he inherited the Family Estate. He went into the Academy in his early 20’s and met Cathline while on a shore leave at Star Fleet Headquarters, San Fransisco. Cathline was working at Star Fleet headquarters at the time at a restaurant as a waitress. She Loved being by the seashore and dreamed of living near one someday. She did not enter the academy but was looking for someone to spend her life with. Once Cathline saw Smithers, she knew he was the one. Smithers and Cathline got married shortly after and she moved in with him at the family home at Eagle Harbor. She got her dream. Living with a wonderful guy and by the beach of Lake Superior. Lewis and Jennifer came a year later and together as twins. They were a handful and pure joy. The kids went off in different directions. Jennifer wanted to do what her father does, and Lewis went into Engineering repairing and restoring Spacecraft both personal and Starfleet use. He also repairs ground vehicles. Neither of Smithers children joined Starfleet. Smithers was disappointed but respected them for going their own way. After being in Starfleet for a while he knew he needed a break, so Smithers went into semi-retirement. He went back home to be with his family. Smithers left Starfleet while he was still a part of the crew of the USS Amandora. Back at home he found a used Runabout. Smithers bought it and his son Lewis helped him restore it to Starfleet standards. Afterwards he christened it the Runabout USS Marquette. His dear friend Grainger who also left the Amandora for a break joined Smithers for trips around the world to find rare and interesting rock, mineral, crystal, and plant samples. |
