| Physical Description | Despite Clancy not being a little teapot, he is unfortunately short and stout. Though he has nor handle or spout, he does have a smile that can be infectious and spread as though it were contagious. It is part of his charm and general consensus that he’s pleasant to be around. A portly fellow with glistening blue eyes, Clancy is not unattractive, but he’s not the sort of officer who adorns the Starfleet recruitment posters. As a child and teenager, he was lanky; however, his growth spurt was short lived and when he stopped sprouting upward any muscle or weight that he put on went horizontally. He has a full ovular face and pale, porcelain – faintly freckled skin. His hair teeters between strawberry blonde and coppery shade of red. Personality: Though a bit bashful, Clancy is naturally extroverted. This does not always come across in his mannerism (guarded and closed), but he is not antisocial. It may take him a while to come out of his shell, but when he does, he will illuminate when he sees a friendly face. Being part of a community and working towards a greater good is what motivates him. He’s usually a glace half full sort of guy, an optimistic ordinary man who is inherently loyal – the golden retriever of people. He can be seen as being too laid back or too easy going, which has caused him to be overlooked in the past for promotion on previous postings. Although he’s a peaceful individual who usually goes with the flow, he is not one to roll over when lives are at stake. A call to action or need for heroics will spark like striking flint. Clancy is always respectful even when he disagrees with somebody, but he will be a bit frank at times (not out of malice, but of concern). Clancy is a warm, intuitive, steadfast, and forthright individual. He looks for the best in people but is not ignorant to the darkness of the galaxy or the mind. He does not actively seek leadership but does not hesitate when leadership falls into his lap. He uses his charisma and warmth to rally others behind him. He may not be ‘the general’ you want leading you into a war, but he is the ‘peacekeeper’ that people will fall back on without leadership they can trust. He will inspire if given the opportunity. |

| Strengths & Weaknesses | Strengths: Committed to Altruism – Clancy believes that the United Federation of Planets generally does good things, otherwise, he would not have joined Starfleet. He wants to be part of making the galaxy a better place for everyone and will stick to these beliefs with faith of the heart. Reliably loyal – Clancy tries to be a friend to all and enemy to none (or at least very few). Be good to him and those he cares about, and you’ll earn his admiration and loyalty. He is completely loyal to those who have shown that he can trust on and depend on them. Collaborative and Receptive – Clancy knows that there are things much greater than himself, greater than one man. He loves working with others and collaborating with others is one of his favorite things to do. He also does not believe that his way is the only way to do things. When faced with a problem, he wants to hear everyone’s solutions. Weaknesses: Avoids conflict and confrontation – Some may consider this a good thing, but it truly is not. It’s the Achilles heel for someone like Clancy who is often thought of as ‘Mister Nice Guy,’ because avoiding conflict means avoiding problems. By avoiding them, things fester and spread, often causing grater issues down the road. Pushy – Clancy is a tinkerer, toyer, and general fixer of things. He has a go-go attitude and does not believe in surrender. Sometimes his eyes are bigger than his stomach, and this carries over into all aspects of his life. He takes on larger scale problems or projects thinking he will manage just fine, O’Shaughnessy but doesn’t. He can sometimes be too pushy even though he just wants what’s best for people. It can be too intense for some, but alright for others. |

| Ambitions | Clancy is content being an average Joe aboard the starship Amandora. He will often do very little to standout, but his performance evaluations will often show that he does very good job. His lack of ambition though will likely hinder his trajectory. |
| Personal History | As the son of Human colonist, Clancy had spent several years of his life never setting foot on his ancestral home of Earth. His mother had been born and raised on the Federation colony of Caldos, settled primarily by humans of Scottish descent though Clancy’s father had been a lifelong inhabitant of Bringloid, Neo-transcendentalists who were rescued and resettled by the USS Enterprise-D in 2368, resettled on Mariposa in effort to revitalize the gene pool of the Mariposian clones. Clancy’s father, however, only remained on Mariposa for a few years before resettling on Caldos where he met Clancy’s mother. The couple were wed on Caldos in a blended ceremony mixing of their Irish-Scottish ancestry. By the time Clancy was conceived, the couple had been married for some time. Though his father had given into modern technologies, the transcendentalism had never entirely left the household. Clancy’s family were agriculturists, farmers on Caldos who still liked to raise their son to believe in hard work and physical labor albeit with some technological assistance. This hard work mentality followed Clancy into his teenage years and was an asset when he applied to Starfleet Academy. He was seventeen years of age when he finally saw Earth for the first time, a tour of Starfleet Academy’s San Francisco campus. His acceptance into Starfleet Academy necessitated a move from his family farm on Caldos to the hustle and bustle of 24th century technologically driven San Francisco. He adapted fairly well, and his child-like wander made him a bit of a clown in his circle of friends. Fascinated with every little thing and taking it apart in order to study how it worked lead Clancy down the academic pathway of becoming an engineer though he was adequate in certain scientific areas as well, especially environmental. As an Environmental Engineer, Clancy had a robust education underneath him. He had studied geology, ecology, chemistry, and microbiology to some extent or another. Protecting the health and well being of a society from environmental hardships and dangers was a top matter of duty for an environmental engineer. Starfleet had assigned the young ensign to the planet of Ba’ku in 2395. He held the posting on the planet for a few years before being reassigned to starship duty aboard the Nova class USS Galatea. Aboard the Galatea, Ensign Clancy Applegate anchored himself within the starship’s Engineering Department, but worked closely with the Science Department often on interdepartmental missions. He received promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade in 2397 and remained with the starship until 2400 when he requested transfer to the much larger USS Amandora. |
