Mission:
Character Development 7/26
Location: XO's Office
Timeline: Current
During a brief lull in the help required by the Commodore, Paul thought it might be a good idea to offer his services to the First Officer and take the opportunity to meet them.
He arrived outside the XO's Office, straightened his uniform, and rang the door chime.
"Enter," Benjamin called out as he looked to the door. He was grateful for the downtime. The USS Amandora was docked at Starbase Danvers. They were receiving new crew and saying goodbye to other crew.
Paul moved forward; the doors swished open and closed behind him as her entered the room.
"Hello, Sir. I am Crewman Paul Randall, the Commodore's Yeoman, and I was wondering if I could be of any assistance to you?"
"Let me guess: the Commodore's visiting her husband, and you have nothing to do because she told you to find something to do, right?"
Benjamin asked. Before they arrived at the station, she had a conversation saying not to bother her unless it was something important, and that he could handle the resupply.
"Yes, sir, I do believe that the Commodore is with her husband at present. I suppose I should take the opportunity to visit the Station, but I prefer to be busy with something."
"Lieutenant Johnson will be in the shuttle Bay. Work with her; the Lieutenant is inventorying the supply lockers on all shuttles and fighters we have aboard the Amandora. I know she would appreciate the company.
"Yes, sir. Not a problem."
"I know the Lieutenant will be grateful for the company," Benjamin suggested to the yeoman. He needed the inventory completed; they had shipments, and he preferred to use their own shuttles.
"As will I, sir. I will get right on it. Thank you again."
"Before you go, may I inquire why you did not want to take time off? Starbase Danvers, is a nice station. A lot to see and do on this particular station." Benjamin asked, respecting the fact he wanted to work, but was curious why he preferred it, over taking some liberty.
"Well, I suppose I should really do that but, whilst the ship is relatively quiet, with most people on the station, it's a perfect opportunity for me, between jobs, to getter acquainted with her layout. I like to be punctual and so would hate to get lost."
"Fair enough, and I don't blame you if I wanted to get familiar with the ship. Is there anything that you need from me?" Benjamin asked, looking to Paul.
"Any words of advise for dealing with the captain? If it's not too much trouble." Paul asked.
"She is not a Captain, She is a one star admiral. Commodore if you prefer. She is warm hearted, and very compassionate, despite her cultural upbringing. She likes to lead by example, she also is trying to fight off promotion to a two star admiral." Benjamin started to tell Paul.
" Ah yes. I merely meant in the Starfleet tradition in the use of Captain. Thank you for the advice. "
Looking at the clock, there time was up. Benjamin had a few meetings booked for today. "Your welcome, Petty Officer. I know you'll make us proud." Benjamin said, was he stood up. Reached out to shake Paul's hand. "Good luck to you, and dismissed."
" Thank you sir. "
