Mission: Character Developent
Location: Arboretum
Timeline: Current

Amethyst wandered through the arboretum, she missed being out amongst nature, amongst the forest glades and flowing green grass. The ship’s Arboretum was the closest thing to nature you could get with real trees, the holodeck was fabulous but nothing there was real and it spoilt the experience knowing that.

As she walked she couldn’t help but wonder about poor Brol. He’d given her a very special present in the combining of dna that made Flora not just part of herself and Will but of Brol as well. She also wondered what that would mean for Flora’s future. She smiled as Flora’s little eyes took in every tree as she rode along in her pram. She was a very content child, they’re link as mother and daughter helped.

During her time as part Brol Amethyst had felt a connection with nature like never before, her telepathic abilities were off the scale then. She wasn’t sure exactly where her abilities were now in relation to their normal strength. Out of curiosity she placed her hand on the bark of a tree just to see if that connection was there, the bark felt cold and hard before a small smile crept across Amethyst’s face. Her connection was there, not like before but present in the faintest of ways. What exactly that meant though she wasn’t sure, would future children of hers, if she had more children, also carry on the legacy of Brol?

Walking onward she grinned at the faces Flora was pulling at the views of the trees, looks of awe and wonder on her tiny face. It was only when they approached a sickly looking tree that Flora’s mood changed, she seemed distressed just being anywhere near the tree so Amethyst quickly moved on by Flora’s mood changing again as they moved away. Amethyst made a mental note to let the ship’s botanist know about the tree.

It seemed Flora already had a unique bond with nature which didn’t come as a surprise to Amethyst, she was a very unique child and would no doubt go on to surprise her and Will yet.

As she walked Amethyst reflected on recent events, she somehow felt like a liability to Will. After Korel’s attack on her under the influence of the alien tick, she’d felt more afraid than she’d ever felt but as a Counsellor she knew that was all part and parcel of the trauma of what had happened. She was part of the senior staff of a starship, there was always an element of risk in that alone.

Looking at her chrono she noticed it was time to get Flora to the nursery. Kal was already enjoying himself at school, he looked forward to his little sister coming to the class nursery whilst his parents were working. Heading out of the arboretum Amethyst headed there ready to drop off and start her afternoon shift.
