It was about twenty four hundred when Nix woke and sat on the side of the bed trying to wake up "Hey sleepyhead, you ready to get this party started or what" she could hear Dunjen say. Then looking over at Tara "Yes as soon as I wake that one up" came the reply as Nix walked over to Tara's bed and gently pushed on her shoulder "Tara....Tara time to get up" Nix said being ready to move in a hurry if Tara happened to lash out at her.

Tara flinched with Nix nudge and spoke to her, rolling over she rubbed her eyes to wake up and sat up on the edge of the bed "I must have been out, I hadn't planned to sleep so soundly. I'm awake."

Nix walked out of the bathroom after splashing some cold water on her face and checked the Tech in her vest bring forward what she might need, then tapped her wrist Terminal checking a couple of the screens when she noticed Tara watching "This is the base of my Tech.....everything I can access through here.....it's much smaller and sleeker from what I had been using previously" she explained wanting to expose Tara to Intelligence technology.

"Impressive," Tara commented drawing her phaser and handing it to Nix "We could have used something like that after the invasion. That phaser was designed by a combination of Romulan technology and our own phaser. Between the captain of the guards, leader of our military and our weapons tech we have those. Only a few exist, myself, and two others on the ship have one, my parents, captain of the guards and our military leader and weapons tech. That's it, it's powerful weapon and I'm not afraid to use it."

After looking her weapon over "Very nice" Nix commented as she handed it back to Tara, then she grabbed her coat and put it on over her vest "When we get to the area where the Lab is located there should be low lighting since it's late....we'll stick to the shadows as much as possible and proceed carefully...I'll take the lead....any questions?"

Taking her phaser back, Tara put it back in her holster "I'm ready when you are," she slipped on her own coat. Walked to the door, picked up her alarm, shut it off and put it back in the small bag she carried. Opening the door Tara looked out into the hallway, Not seeing anyone "Coast is clear Nix."

Nix walked to the door and turned to Tara "When we get to the end of the hallway I'll check around the corner to make sure the way is clear" she instructed "We may as well get this party started."

When they arrived at the end of the corridor Nix gave Tara the halt sign as she grabbed the viewing sphere from her vest and tossed it out in front of her a short distance....using her wrist terminal Nix looked towards the Lab which was a shot distance away. There was one Guard fairly close to the Lab entrance leaning against the wall like he was bored with the job. Not wanting to be seen Nix grabbed a small round stone, bent down and threw it hard as it landed a short ways past the Guard....click....click....click the stone went across the floor. The Guard instinctively followed the stone probably wondering what it was, this gave the ladies a chance to quickly get to the door. Tara stood watch with phaser at the ready while Nix proceeded to access the door.

Inserting her Fob into the port on the keypad, Nix keyed in a command on the terminal screen which was in front of her.....soon she keyed in the correct sequence as the door slid open. By this time the Guard was at the other end of the large area.

After walking in Nix said in a low voice "Stand guard by the door while I try and download as much data as I can.....if anyone comes through that door you know what to do" Nix instructed Tara.

Tara nodded "Phaser is on heavy stun," Tara kept a lookout, footsteps and voices could be heard coming closer. They stopped right outside the door "We're going to have company," she hissed stepping back from the door and aimed her phaser at it. The door began to open, Tara adjusted her phaser to a wide beam and just as the door open she opened fire, dropping four to the ground. Looking into the hallway "Nix there's six more coming."

Nix hadn't even had enough time to access the Computers yet when Tara neutralized their company. Nix ran over and stood on the other side of the door reaching into her vest pulled out a baton and extended it ready to deliver some crippling blows if need be. The other Guards were talking outside the door when she heard one saying "Where did the other guys go." "Don't know maybe they went to get something to eat" the other replied. "That sounds like a good idea, I could use some food" the first replied. Nix listened at the door as she heard the Guards walk away.

Looking at Tara "Give me a hand let's lean theses guys up against the wall over here" so her and Tara did just that and Nix stuck a sleeping dart in each one of their necks "There that ought to keep them out until we're done and out of here."

Nix hustled back over to the Computer and placed her Fob into the port looking for a class one login on her screen. Finding it she keyed the sequence into the Computer. Then she inserted a disk and began to take snapshots of every page of data automatically; this was much faster than trying to download everything but could still be read when they were back aboard Ship.

Walking back over to Tara "I'll need about thirty minutes then hopefully I'll have all the data that I need" she commented "Why are there so many Guards this late at night....I could see four maybe but certainly not ten. We'll have to keep them at bay until I get the data......hopefully they're won't be any more surprises....if there is we'll deal with them."

"Remember the ship is in orbit and its possible Teka is suspicious of things. That or there is more going on here than just this weapon. It could be more than one faction is working it," Tara commented "But no matter what no one is getting in here."

After a moment of thought "Ya, you could be correct.....the last thing we need is for our covers to be blown." Nix commented "The data retrieval is almost finished then we can go back to our room and I'll take a look and see what we have. But we need about seven minutes more here."

The next several minutes passed quickly then Nix backed out of the Computer system and logged out. She placed the disk in her vest and walked back over to the door where Tara was standing "I think we have everything that we need" Nix commented in a low voice.

Nix could hear Dunjen "Listen at the door....I think our company is back." "I think so too" she thought to herself as Nix placed her ear against the door....she heard voices just outside. Looking at Tara "The Guards are back.....we may have to stun the whole lot so we can get back to our room.....hopefully undetected."

"Stay behind me," Tara said as she leveled her phaser and opened the door. Seeing the guards Tara had an idea to give Nix a chance to escape, tucking her phaser back into it's holster "I'm lost, can one of you handsome people guide me to the ladies room? I stumbled into that room by mistake and i really need to go."

Nix could hear Dunjen "What the hell is she doing?" "Trying to get their attention....I think" she thought. Now that Tara had their attention Nix took out her phaser, made sure it was set to heavy stun and a wide width beam, positioned herself to take out half of the Guards at a time and hoped that she wouldn't hit Tara.

She moved into the doorway....took careful aim....and stunned three of the six Guards then slid over to the other side of Tara and did the same to the other three while they were trying to figure out what had just happened.

Walking through the door looking at Tara "Lets go....back to the room!" Nix said still puzzled over Tara's actions.

"That was a way to get the guards to drop their guard so to speak and give us a chance to make the break we needed. I know it probably looked like a dumb move on my part but I knew that the angle the guards were they'd be able to see their comrades in that room we were in and the last thing we either one needed was for our cover to be blown. That way they're stunned and down for sometime," Tara said. "So I told them I'd gotten into that room by mistake while looking for a bathroom. Let's get back to our room, we're good to go now. I've scanned the area and there are no more guards or Dragoons in the area."

Nix let out a sigh as she heard Dunjen "Damn that was pretty smart thinking.....I knew I liked this one for some reason."

The ladies hustled back to their room and when they arrived Nix locked he door then turned to Tara "That was first rate thinking I just wish I had a heads up.....I don't mind telling you....you scared the crap out of me....I'm just glad it worked out in the end" Nix commented with a grin.

Nix took the data disk and inserted it into a holder....attached it to the side of her wrist terminal....then brought up a screen "I want to see how many snapshots I was able to download.....hopefully we have all the data on the weapon" she stated as she punched in a sequence into the Terminal.

Nix couldn't believe her eyes as she brought up the table of contents for the disk. Turning to Tara "You need to see this....I'm not a Scientist but this doesn't look good....matter of fact this looks catastrophic by all counts" she stated being quite afraid of what this weapon could do.

Tara walked over and looked at the information "The weapon's not complete but should that thing be finished the galaxy is not safe. This thing is being worked on by more than one clan and if I'm reading this right once it's delivered into a planet the planet will begin to break up and depending on the size of the planet how long it will take. The bigger the planet the longer it will take. The commodore needs to see this and so does my boss."

"I agree Tara....we need to get back to the Ship now" Nix stated "Besides with all those stunned Guards laying around it's only a matter of time before someone puts two and two together."

Nix lifted a flap on her vest and tapped her comm "Transporter Room this is Dunjen we need to get out of here."

There was a lot of static but all she could hear was "Lieut ......can't.....lock" came the broken message.

Nix thought for a moment as she heard Dunjen "So how do you plan on leaving now....I wouldn't advise the front door" "Nix looked around then a smile came over her face "No but I know another way out" she thought then walked over to the window and checked it out.

Looking at Tara "You watch the door....I'm going to heat up the window with my phaser which should cause the window to blow outwards, then we can get outside to use our comms."

While Tara was guarding the door Nix set her phaser to full and fired going along the perimeter of the window, then without warning the window exploded out onto the ground outside.

Moments later an alarm sounded as metal bars dropped over the opening "Now what" Dunjen asked sounding a little concerned as Tara looked her way. "I got this" Nix replied with confidence.

She reached into her vest and brought out a roll of what looked like a grey putty along with a sheet of fuses that she held between her teeth. Nix quickly wrapped each bar at the top and bottom and inserted a fuse on each one until all the bars were done.

Nix walked to the other side of the bed then smiled at Tara "Watch yourself....this might get messy" she stated as she leveled her phaser at the bars and fired. Suddenly there was sparks and smoke everywhere for about a minute....Nix walked over to the bar and leaned back on one leg then gave each bar a side kick with the other leg. Soon the bars were gone "Tara....let's get out of here."

The ladies grabbed their things and exited through the window. When outside Nix peaked around the corner to see it was clear. Turning to Tara "Tree line" she said pointing and the two made a mad dash for the area for cover.

Nix grabbed Tara's hand "We leave together" as she tapped her comm "Transporter Room this is Dunjen.....get us the hell out of here" came the request and moments later they we safely gone.
