It had taken some convincing, but unlike the Major General himself, his commanders seemed to be fairly reasonable. While Winston had ordered a simple smash and grab, sure to get hostages and marines alike killed, Hurd and West’s proposal was embraced as the far better tactical move.

There would be three platoons, two to engage from the North, one from the South, while a small contingent of men would descend to the roof, find a way in, and secure the hostages while their distraction pulled as many hostiles away from the building.

Intel placed the enemy strength as inferior to Starfleet Marines, but that didn’t mean there weren’t ways that this could go bad.
This is what West was thinking as he and the two platoons with plans to attack from the North crouched in the darkness. Two minutes to showtime. He hoped Hurd and his men were in position.

One minute, Hurd thought, checking the .45 at his hip for what felt like the fiftieth time. His men were hand picked from his own platoon, and he trusted each and every one of them.

“Listen up! This is a simple infil/exfil. We’re looking for an entry point from the roof, and we’re expecting small resistance, if Winston and West do their jobs. That doesn’t mean we won’t face resistance.” He cried over the sound of the engines. “Stay sharp.”

Just then, a loud boom could be heard from the South.

“Goddamnit.” He hissed. "They're early."

West’s head turned toward the sound of a loud boom and an explosion from the South. “Goddamn trigger happy…” He muttered, “They’re early!” He gave the signal to go to his waiting platoon. “Time to improvise, ooh rah.”
