{Deck 2 - O'Connell Quarters}

The last mission had kept Heather and Jamie very busy with their duties aboard Ship so they really hadn't had much quality time together.

As they were finishing breakfast Jamie inquired "Sweetheart what would you like to do on our shore leave; your choice."

Heather smiled "That's so sweet....my choice?" she replied "Let's do something different....I hear they have waterfalls on Caldwell....why
don't we hike to the falls and check it out" she responded.

Jamie thought for a moment "You know I rather like that idea. I'll put together a backpack with lunch in it and a few other things. Then I'll grab the coordinates of the area and program into the Tricorder so we should be able to find our way" he commented.

"That sounds like a plan" she replied then continued "I would suggest long pants and hiking boots; I wouldn't want to brush up against anything that would cause a skin irritation and a short sleeved shirt."

"Yup that works" Jamie replied as the two gathered things together for their excursion. Jamie grabbed the backpack along with his communicator and a phaser; just in case.

A little while later the couple made their way to the Transporter Room and beamed down to the Planet.

{Caldwell}

The O'Connells materialized about a mile and a half from the falls as Jamie checked his Tricorder "This way should take us pretty close to the falls" he commented noticing how thick the trees were.

"Ok I'll follow you and let's take a slow pace considering how thick this stuff is.....we'll probably have to be stepping over stuff" Heather commented with a smile.

"Yes that sounds like a good idea, no sense of getting a twisted ankle" Jamie replied with a chuckle.

After a couple of hours plodding through the woods Jamie stopped "Heather listen....here that....I can hear the falls rumbling..we must be getting close" he stated.

"Yes I hear it as well....how much further do you think" she replied.

Checking his Tricorder "About a mile" Jamie responded as the two started once again.

Shortly they walked out of the woods and were greeted by a tall, rumbling falls and you could see a rainbow in it's mist with the sun hitting it.

"Jamie that is beautiful and look how green al the fauna is around it" Heather commented being in awe at the moment.

"It certainly is" he replied "It was well worth the walk here" then looking around "Let's go sit under that tree over there and have lunch while we admire this place.

So the couple sat under the tree on a blanket as Jamie unloaded his backpack "Let's see here....crusty bread....cheese.....ham....and of course your favorite mustard along with some of my Granny's famous iced tea" he stated with a smile.

"That certainly sounds good. After that hike here I'm hungry" Heather replied.

The couple sat and enjoyed their picnic while taking in all the beauty the area had to offer. After their meal was finished Jamie gathered up the remains and placed them back into his pack for disposal when they returned to the Ship.

They sat with Jamie holding Heather not really saying too much just enjoying the surroundings and being with each other for the next few hours.

"Do you think we should return to the Ship before it gets too dark" he asked.

"Yes we probably should, I don't think I'd want to get caught out here after dark" she replied.

The couple stood as Jamie folded up the blanket and stuffed it into his pack "How about we take a shortcut home" he said as he grabbed Heather's hand and walked out into a nearby clearing.

Tapping his Comm "Transporter Room this is O'Connell, lock on to my signal....two to return to the Ship" came the request. Moments later they were gone in two beams of white light.

{Deck 2 - Quarters}

When they walked into their home Jamie put down the pack "Sweetheart would you like a drink" Jamie asked.

"Yes I'll have a glass of wine but first I want to put on something more comfortable" she stated with a smile as she turned and headed for the bedroom.

"Ok you go change while I get rid of the stuff in the pack" Jamie replied as he went out into the Kitchen to take care of things.

By the time Heather returned to the living area Jamie had everything taken care of and a glass of wine sitting on the table for her. Jamie sat sipping his whisky on the couch.

Heather sat beside Jamie while she sipped her wine "I had a really nice time today....thank you I'd had forgotten just how nice real sunshine and fresh air felt like" she commented.

"That's one of the downsides of being on a Ship you get used to everything being artificial but the real thing does feel good" Jamie replied.

After Heather finished her wine she placed her glass on the table then leaned up and gave Jamie a passionate kiss "I love you so much and I really like days like this where we can just be together."

Jamie held her hand and kissed the top of her head "I love you too, and we'll have lots more days like this...I promise" he replied with a smile.

The couple sat as Heather snuggled up next to Jamie and soon she was fast asleep on his shoulder. Jamie looked down "I have to be the luckiest guy in the Galaxy to be with a women like this."
