Mission: The Restroffs (Space Spiders)

Lt Commander Will Raymond was having the time of his life given his recent hand fasting to Counselor Amethyst Aloran.

" Imzadi I will be back I have to check in with the crew and two department head meetings." Will told her in a padd text.

Amethyst was sitting at her desk arranging her next appointment when Will’s message arrived. She couldn’t help but smile as she looked at the new ring he’d gotten her which now signified her married status. She tapped out a message in response. “Not to worry I’ll see you at home in a while.”

Will smiled then moved to his next meeting in the hanger deck with Captain Porter. With Marine Captain Redex in sickbay it was imperative to have a step in leader take charge down there.

Seeing Porter beside his wing Will approached.

" Welcome back Captain. Have you prepared your after action report?"

Porter was looking over some repairs being done to a fighter to see the XO. "Thank you, sir. I have, shall we relocate to my office?"

Will complied as he had several more of these today.

" So what happened on that sortie?
Didn't you receive the order to disengage the spiders?" Will asked

Porter sat down behind his desk and gestured for Raymond to have a seat. "Yes we did, but we had no idea that our phasers would do that much damage, even at the lowest setting."

" We do not know how the Spider leader will react to this attack. Only time will tell. In the mean time we will be making repairs. Captain Redex sustained a life threatening injury. I am needing some help with the marine detachment in the mean time Captain. I need for Lt Foster to step up and assume the role of Marine XO. Can you spare him? and if so can he do it?" Will asked Porter.

"I, uh...I mean, he's a capable Marine, but he's still relatively new. He's only had one other posting before the Amandora...though he IS up for a promotion soon, so I would have to say that he'll be good for the job."

" Keep him 2nd Lt. We will let him fill in for a few months and see how he does, will that work?"

Jackson nodded. "Very well, I will let him know of his temporary transfer." He entered a couple notes into his desk computer then looked back to Raymond. "As for the spiders, what's next in line for them?"

" The Amandora will withdraw from this sector. The Pak'shree and Brol are working on a negotiation with the spiders to release the other ships. Turns out there are offsprings of the Queen and it looks like they are trying to gain control. We are new to this sector and will have to forge our own path to spread the Federation gospel." Will replied. " Now how can I help you and your department?"

Jackson shook his head. "At this time, I'd like some more time to get things situated here since I didn't have much time before we encountered the spiders. And transferring Foster will change things a little more. But I won't hesitate to ask for any assistance if I need some."

" No rush I just need to let the Captain know we are assessing the situation and have it covered." Will replied.

Will exited the mans office passing 2nd Lt Foster along the way.

Marines were their own force to recon with. Foster would step in fill the need and maybe even emerge a butterfly.


Off
