#106 Meeting the Supervisor

Having already met Herculoid, Ainkara had heard that their new Department Head, or Chief, was now aboard. Having been working with Engineering to get Amandora's systems back up to par the Voran woman took a break from her duties and made her way to the SCI Department. Entering, and nodding to those present as she did so, Ainkara went to the Chief's office that had the door closed. The small window that looked out into the department itself showed that Lieutenant Zolon was in her office. Without further ado she stepped to the door and tapped the chime.

Going over what few reports there were, since the Ship was in Dock, Cass heard the door chime as she looked up "Enter" she stated then waited to see who wanted to see her.

Hearing the permission to go inside Ainkara stepped through the door as it opened. As when she visited Commander Green, she came to stand before the desk, tall and straight but not at attention. "Greetings, Lieutenant. I am Crewman Apprentice Ainkara, a trainee for the Starfleet way of life, and a subordinate of yours."

The Lieutenant smiled "Please have a seat, it's very nice to meet you Crewman" Cass commented "I saw your name on my Staff list. I wanted to meet you so thank you for seeking me out first."

As with most Vulcanoid species, Ainkara gave a nod of gratitude at being asked to sit. When she did so she sat up straight, her posture both sustainable and comfortable. "I appreciate your interest, Lieutenant Zolon. As is proper, I felt the need to introduce myself since I am, according to Commander Green, a rarity. Both my species and my position aboard. There are those who 'test out' while at the Academy, showing that their knowledge is adequate enough to not need to attend certain classes or courses of academia. Admiral Aaron Stone receives my test results and then sends them on to the Academy staff and professors to be scored. My goal, Lieutenant, is to become an officer, honorary or not." Her tone denoted her drive and focus to do just that. Starfleet had given her a home and Ainkara intended to return the favor with a lifetime of service.

Lieutenant Zolon sat in her chair listening carefully as Ainkara was explaining her course of action. Her drive and determination was most impressive as Cass smiled "Those are some serious goals and I have no doubt with your commitment and determination you'll be well able to meet each and everyone of them" she commented "If I may suggest.....you may want to spend time in each of the Labs working and learning as much as you can over the next several months. That will give you a good foundation for your Academy learnings. If you need anything please don't hesitate to ask."

"I will endeavor to do so, Lieutenant," answered Ainkara. "I have a tertiary lab set up for my research projects fairly close to Stellar Cartography. Lieutenant Herculoid said it would be fine to do so since there are dozens of labs all over the Galaxy class." In response to the part about queries Ainkara gave a response. "If any questions arise then I shall look to you and Miss Herculoid, and other command staff, for answers. I have been working with Engineering since my secondary is in that department."

"Sounds like you have things all worked out; but one word of caution....pace yourself so you don't get burned out; you have a long road ahead of you" Cassandra commented hoping she would take her advice "Please remember my door is always open should you need an ear to listen."

Ainkara stood up. "I will pace myself, Lieutenant. Thank you for your time." With a final nod of goodbye Ainkara left the office, and the department, intending to go see to recalibrating the lateral sensor array. She would get to work with others and get to know them.

Lieutenant Zolon sat back in her chair thinking "I can't remember the last time I met someone so determined and so driven" then a smirk came across her face as it sort of reminded her of herself those many years ago when she first started training as a Priestess.
