It had not stopped raining for two days in the Appalachians. So much so the old creek was over flowing behind Will's cabin.

The Harriman was taking longer than normal for Will and he toggled thru the padd assignments. Looking down at his dog Roy, Will looked at the various openings.

Will had been a second officer and helmsman for so long he could not imagine being anywhere else. But then he saw one opening he just had to consider.

Tapping the link he immediately connected to the Amandora comm board.

" Lt Cdr Raymond requesting a video conference with the ships CO please?" Will asked for.

Cyndi had just left a meeting with Commodore Snow regarding her promotion to captain of a brand new Galaxy Class Star Ship. None of her protesting had done any good. Getting word that there was a video call for her Cyndi walked into her classroom and opened the video call. "This is Captain Song how can I help you?"

" Captain Song thank you for accepting my hail. I won't waste your time ma'am but I wanted to ask if I could meet with you to discuss your First Officer's position. I understand the Amandora is a galaxy class refit? The Harriman was a nebula class cruiser, which was similar. Do you have any openings in your agenda?" Will greeted.

"I just finished teaching my last class. I have papers to grade so if you'd like to stop by Starfleet Academy I'm there," Cyndi replied

Will smiled as he had just arrived on campus and was nearby.

Taking the lift to her area Will arrived and passing her class room once finally found her.

" You are not an easy lady to find Captain. Lt Commander Will Raymond late of USS Harriman. What class are you teaching?" Will asked.

"I teach science," Cyndi answered "I dismissed my class early to meet with Commodore Snow, that is probably why you were unable to reach me."

" Well Captain, I am no hero but I do have skills and discipline. On the Harriman I was Chief Helmsman and Second Officer. I would not leave but the Harrimans refit is being lengthened. I am going crazy waiting for an,assignment. I saw the Amandora's open slot and thought to myself why not? Do you have any questions for me?" Will asked.

"Why don't you come to my classroom commander and we can discuss it," Cyndi said.

Will complied and in a few minutes he once again found himself inside a class room he too had once had courses in. It had been freshman year when it was all about the " experience " and a time when all he thought about was a very attractive Vulcan female sophomore.

" Captain Song? I'm Will Raymond. " he greeted.

Cyndi closed her lap top, got to her feet and walked from behind her desk "What can I do for you commander?" she asked.

Will was confused. Clearly he had made himself known to her. " Captain I came to interview for the Executive Officer position."

Cyndi nodded "I assumed as much. This caught me totally off guard. I'd turned down promotions in the past. I've seen the ship but have not been aboard yet. From what I understand is she's undergoing final things and is full of engineers and mechanics. So tell me why I should have you as my first officer?"

Will paused as her question had merit to it.

" You want me because as a helmsman and second officer I know the merits of command. It begins with the CO and trickles down. I follow and believe in the chain of command. So that is my text book answer. "

"And your willing to take my orders, back me up and if you disagree with an order or decision I've made how will you handle it?" Cyndi asked.

" Captain I want to be a CO one day and if I were you I would want someone who loves his or her ship just as much. The Amandora will be my everything. As for your orders so long as they are in correlation with established Star Fleet orders I will always have your back." Will added.

"Then commander the position of executive officer is yours," Cyndi said "I'll make it official in a few minutes."

Will smiled and extended a salute to his new Captain.
" Thank you Captain it is truly an honor."

Cyndi returned the salute and offered her hand "Welcome to the Amandora commander."

" Well alright then." Will smiled.

"I'll be checking aboard in a few hours. I need to get my classes handed over to another teacher. I'll be aboard later today," Cyndi said
