After getting things squared away in Engineering, Jamie had one last stop to make.

{Security}

The Commander walked in looking around for one person in particular "SanChez a word" he stated "In my Office if you please.

Lt.JG Maria SanChez looked up from her work "Right away Chief" she replied and followed Jamie into his Office.

Jamie turned and smiled "San Chez please have a seat, there is something we need to discuss" he commented as he grabbed his seat then smiled.

"Maria the reason I called you in here is let you know what's transpired in the last twenty four hours" he stated.

"Sure Chief, what's up" Maria replied wondering what the hell was going on.

Jamie took a breath "As of nineteen hundred last night I have accepted the position as Engineering Chief due to my background and an urgent need. That being said, after talking to Commander Green we have decided to let you operate Security/Tactical's day to day operations; which is no different than in the past with me being tied up with my other duties. So you up for it SanChez."

A smile came across her face "Fuck'in-a Chief, no problem" she replied being very excited. Jamie just gave her a look. After realizing what she had just said "Sorry for the language Chief."

Jamie grinned "You can be you around the Staff but you need to watch that mouth of your's, especially around Command' he commented then continued "So the Department will be squarely on your shoulders....either Commander Green, CWO Whisperwind or myself will check in on you probably once a week for awhile. Any question Lieutenant."

Maria thought for a moment "No questions Chief but I do have a comment" she replied with a grin. " Jamie nodded.

"Chief...Jamie you are one of the few Chiefs that I have worked for who has treated me as a person and not just a 'big boobed bimbo' and I appreciate that. I will miss working with you Sir" she commented before adding "But if you tell anyone what I just said I'll deny it....after all I do have a reputation to protect."

Jamie chuckled "Not a word I promise" he replied "Now let's go and tell the others. The two left the Office and went out into the main area.

Walking in SanChez said in her usual loud voice "Ok you knuckleheads gather around the Chief has an announcement" she ordered.

Commander O'Connell went through the whole situation of what they could expect as a Department. When finished "Any questions?"

Looking around he could see a hand raise "Yes Grimes."

"No question Chief but I would like to say it's been a pleasure working with you Sir and we will miss your presence in Security" Grimes commented with the other's nodding in agreement.

"Thanks everyone it's much appreciated and I'll miss each and everyone of you as well; however I'm still Ship's Second Officer so you're not getting rid of me that easily" as he heard a chuckle from the others "I hope...no I expect all of you will give the Lieutenant the same respect as you have afforded myself and follow her orders to a tee weather you agree or not. SanChez knows what she's doing. I wish you all the best" Jamie finally finished saying.

SanChez spoke up in her usual manner "If you don't follow my orders I'll take you to the Holo Deck and kick your asses....and you know I can do it" she stated with a cheeky grin.

Grimes replied "Lieutenant you can kick my ass any time" as the others gave some 'cat whistles'.

"In your dreams Grimes" Maria retorted "Ok back to work you slackers" as everyone resumed their duties without question.

"Looks like you have everything well in hand I have to get back to Engineering; good luck Maria" Jamie commented being very sincere.

As he left Maria called out "Don't be a stranger Commander" as Jamie waved his hand goodbye. Taking a deep breath she thought "I'm really going to miss the Chief."
