Paul had picked up the PADD, activated it and began to read what seemed to be the last log from the base commander. Commodore Robert Cloud:
LOG:
This is Commodore Cloud something is amiss on my base. My crew is disappearing at an alarming rate. They’re here one minute and are gone in an instant. I have a skeleton crew aboard. I’ve sent word to Starfleet Command asking for assistance and unless something happens soon there won’t be anyone here left. In the past two weeks I’ve lost three fourths of my officers, crew and civilians. As of today there is less than one hundred personal aboard and I cannot command a base of this size with that few personal. All the civilians are gone, nothing anywhere is out of place. I’ve walked the decks, the promenade, several different departments and no one is there. They seem to have been in the middle of something when they vanished. Half eaten food, have finished drinks, half finished reports, and that’s only the start of it. Where have my people gone? I only wish I knew, the transporters have not activated, the escape pods are all accounted for and none of the runabouts or shuttles have been used/ Everything is as it should be, well all except the base personal. I’m hearing sounds, I’m going to investigate and hopefully be able to get some answers……….!!!!!!!!!!
Paul re-read the log again, he knew Commodore Cloud he was not a man to panic and was well respected by everyone who knew him. “Computer display ops visual last entry by Commodore Cloud.”
The computer acknowledged Paul’s order and played the final few minutes, it showed Jeff getting up and turning around to see what he’d heard. What Paul saw was to say the least startling. It showed a large ant like being that had to be over ten feet tall, it walked on two legs and reached out with two if it’s legs, grabbed Jeff, and vanished in a cloud of dirt and dust. Just before Jeff vanished a loud scream of pain could be heard and the everything went silent.
Tapping his com-badge “Barnes this is Sanderson, what have you found? I’ve read the last log by Commodore Cloud who is in command of the base and I have a visual of something that resembled an ant taking the commodore.” Paul next ordered the computer to raise the base to yellow alert. Paul looked at the three ships in dock who were just as eerily empty as the base was. The Amandora could be seen at a safe distance as she orbited the base. The two fighters were on patrol keeping a watchful eye on things. Doctor Long was in sick bay going over things and that would be his next stop to see what if anything she or her people had found.
