Commander O'Connell was at the Conn when he heard a message come through and since he was the only one on the Bridge Jamie walked over to Comms and brought up the message. He saw it was from Rear Admiral Sanderson marked urgent. Opening the message Jamie read it over then tapped his Comm "Engineering this is the Commander, it appears we have an electromagnetic pulse bomb somewhere in Engineering....check the Computer Core first that's where it was found on the Base" he ordered not too happy with the news.

"Right away Commander, I'll check it out and let you know what I find" Engineering responded.

"Good if you have any problems with disabling the device let me know and I'll come to assist.....please don't blow yourself or the Ship up" Jamie ordered.

"Understood Commander" came the reply.

Meanwhile Jamie decided to have a look at the Science logs to see if they could provide any additional information about the Crew's apparent disappearance. As Jamie sat at the Console he heard a strange noise behind him....something wasn't right. Jamie sprang to his feet and at the same time went for his holsterd phaser....he couldn't believe his eyes. There in front a him stood a six foot tall....well ant to be exact. As he drew his weapon the creature chattered rapidly and it's antennas moved around just as fast.

O'Connell thought for a second, seeing the ant's reaction, decided to reholster his weapon and remove his hand from it....once done the thing settled down. It seems it no longer viewed O'Connell as a threat.

"What do you want and who or what are you....what have you done with the Crew.....and how the bloody hell did you get around our Disruptors" he queried not really expecting to get any kind of reply, although the ant was chirping rapidly.

After a few moments Jamie happened to think then said aloud "Computer initiate Universal Translator" came the request. "Universal Translator initiated...unable to translate....language not found in Federation Databanks." came the reply.

"What the bloody hell" Jamie thought "This creature is trying to communicate with me and we can't understand one another" then Jamie had another thought "Computer record the creatures noises for later analysis." "Understood....recording now" came the reply.

"Maybe Comms back on the Ship will have some luck translating what the ant was communicating" he said out loud.

The creature kept chattering, with it's antennas still moving at a somewhat slower pace. As the Commander watched the ant made a hasty exit in a cloud of dust.

Jamie's Comm went off "O'Connell here, go ahead."

"Commander I found the device and was able to neutralize it....I haven't seen any others" Engineering explained.

"That's a relief, keep an eye out in case there's more of those damn things around" came the order "O'Connell out.

Jamie sat in the Big Chair and grabbed his PADD, made out a report regarding his attempted conversation with the ant then sent it onto the other two Ships, the Base, and the Amandora all tagged urgent.
