Mission:
Vanished
Location: Onak's Quarters/Bridge
Timeline: Current
~On~
Onak stood in front of the mirror, inspecting his uniform. He adjusted his house insigia, which was affixed higher up and to his left, above his comm badge. Satisfied, he turned and left his quarters for the turbo lift.
His first day of work aboard the Amandora and he was uncharacteristically anxious. He was champing at the bit to help get to the bottom of what was going on and he would finally be able to put some of his ideas into action.
The Turbolift doors opened and he was met by a petite human CPO. She moved aside comically, hugging the inside wall as Onak stepped through nonchalantly.
"Bridge" he said, and turned to the yeoman. "Hello Chief." he said politely.
The poor girl looked terrified. "H-h-hello Sir." she answered shakily, making a strange face.
"Chief, are you alright?" he asked.
She looked at him sheepishly but didn't answer.
Onak chuckled. "I don't bite girl. Speak up."
"Well Sir...it's...it's the smell." she managed.
Onak let out a deep belly laugh. "Oh do not concern yourself! I will get used to it!"
He wasn't sure if the poor girl would laugh or cry.
Onak tried to soothe her. "It was a joke young one! Just a joke. Your smell is acceptable."
The chief let out a relieved giggle. "Oh thank God!" she said relieved.
=^= BRIDGE =^= the computer announced
"Bye now!" he said.
The doors slid open to reveal the bridge and Onak nodded to the shaken crewman and walked out and directly to his duty station.
"Lt. Onak reporting to station sir." he announced.
Commodore Song replied from the command chair "Take your station Mr. Onak."
'Aye Sir!" he replied.
He first set about checking the tactical status, daily reports current mission status, etc. He was intrigued by the discovery of an "ant-like" species as well as a group of children being discovered aboard the station.
All of the adults were missing with the children being left behind ostensibly in the clutches of an alien species. His suspicious nature prodded him to believe these aliens were not to be trusted. Of course, to his mind, no one was to be trusted.
He ran through a series of diagnostics on the shields and weapons systems until he was satisfied all systems were up and operating at peak. Satisfied, he put the next phase of his approach into action.
"Commodore, I would like to launch a series of probes to extend our sensors beyond our current range. In addition, we can feed the telemetry directly to Captain Rivers and Mr. Money and those on the station. I will also construct a multi-dimensional model of this area of space which I believe will give us an advantage in several possible scenarios if the need arises, as well as permitting any authorized personnel to see it all at a glance, as it were."
He had finished speaking but realized he left something important out. "With your permission of course Sir!"
Commodore Song was pensive for a moment. "Do it Lieutenant."
"Aye Sir." Onak replied.
His dark hands moved deftly over the keypadd as he finalized his calculations and commands. Relatively quickly the probes were deployed. Once they were in place and operational he would send notices to all involved so they could avail themselves of the information.
He checked the estimated time it would take for the computer to construct the model, then clasped his hands behind his back, keeping his eyes on his instruments.
"I believe I may like it here." he said softly to himself.
