#47 Narrowed Down
Posted on Fri Mar 10th, 2023 @ 10:19pm by Captain Rogue Green {Meji} & Chief Warrant Officer Niraasha "Nira" Whisperwind
Mission:
Vanished
Location: USS Amandora
Timeline: current
ON:
After gathering samples of the soil residue in the Arboretum, and scanning the entire chamber, Nira took those samples to the labs adjacent to Medical. Entering, and making sure she was at an angle that no one could look in on what she had on screen, she began to check for similarities for anything on Amandora. Nothing. As the investigator she had to make sure that if anyone on board had done this that they did not see where she was, or how far she was in the investigation. Every avenue she checked came up empty when in regards to the ship. The only hairs that had been found at the site where the badge was found belonged to Dwight Bachman, Green's lover.
It made no sense. There was nothing to tie his disappearance to the Amandora itself. Just as she thought that, Nira's eyes widened with an idea. Taking up her PADD and closing down completely all she had been delving into, the Puazi woman then made her way to the Bridge. Coming on the command deck from the starboard lift, seeing Green in her chair, Nira slowed her pace to walk passed and speak at the same time. "Number One, I need to speak to you privately. Conference room, please." Nira had seen the reduction in Lieutenant Kirk's classified level, as had all of Security, so did not want to provide a possible threat with any data.
"Very well, Nira." Ro got up and followed the Investigator into the main Bridge conference room. Once they were both inside and the door shut behind them, Green looked to her shipmate. "Have you found something?"
"I might have," admitted Nira. "But, it will require your assistance to confirm."
Ro quirked an eyebrow in curiosity. "How so?"
Nira linked her PADD to the large wall monitor on the behind the CO's chair. "These are the soil samples we found when we scanned the area where Dwight's badge was found. There are absolutely no traces of that soil anywhere on Amandora, nor have there ever been. Nowhere in the internal sensor logs does it show, or in any of the sterilization protocols for cabins, or any other locations on the ship. So, I had an epiphany."
Green raised her eyebrows in an expression of 'well?'. "Chief Nira, I am not fond of dramatic pauses."
"Apologies, Commander." Nira looked her friend and XO in the eye. "I need you to override the data banks on Starbase 154 and get me all data they may have on soil samples taken from any of the planets in this system. No matter how small or insignificant, I need to make comparisons. Your security clearance, and being Number One, will allow you to link our computer with theirs, since we are already investigating the facility."
Green gave occasional nods as Nira had spoken, and then stepped in. Reaching out for the PADD, which was given, she then input her own command codes for the data transfer, handing the device back. "Do your thing, Chief." She remained where she was standing, her eyes going from Nira to the monitor a few times. "Let's see what you have."
While Green waited, Nira had called up the data from Starbase 154, cross referencing any soil samples taken for scientific purposes. After a good ten minutes a cross reference appeared, a blue background appearing behind the report in one column. "There we are, Commander. The Class-M planet in this system is the one where the soil came from. Several unmanned probes had been sent down, collected samples from various ecosystems, and returned. This one, ours, came from here," she tapped a key and showed a topographical map of the planet fairly close to, and below, Starbase 154. "The scans don't lie, Ro. This mountainous region is the source for that particular soil, according to probe data. However, I can't narrow it down any further than just the region but, it's a start."
"Good work, Nira." Green could not help but grin. "Without any further data on the composition it's a place to begin. Thank you for your due diligence. Compile this into a report and send it to those you need to. We can't move on this until all are informed."
"Understood, Number One." Nira responded. "I'll get right on it."
Green gave a nod and returned to the Bridge, sitting back down in her chair to play the waiting game once more.
