Upon returning to the Bridge, and seeing Cyndi was not on the Bridge, she asked Resch and he nodded towards the Ready Room. Hopefully, the new officer wasn't still in there. Going over to the door she hit the chime.
"Enter," Cyndi called out closing her lap top.
Once prompted, Ro walked in and stood before the desk. "Cyndi, I fear that what happened to those other places, we are now suffering. Dwight is gone. We found his combadge in the Arboretum, laying in the grass, but no traces of him. Nor can I sense him anywhere close by. Nira is starting an investigation and gathering any evidence, as we speak."
"What the hell!" Cyndi exclaimed "Computer besides Dwight Bachman how many more crew are unaccounted for excluding the ones on the star base and the three ships!" Looking at Ro "We'll find him, one report is those ants leave behind a pile of dust and dirt. Did you find anything like that in the Arboretum? Paul reported that Herculoid may have found a way to communicate with those beings."
Green gave a nod as she finished, then spoke to the ceiling. "Computer, dual channel to both Chief Nira and Lieutenant SanChez." When the computer acknowledged that the channels were open, Ro went on. "Lieutenant SanChez, I have Chief Nira looking into the disappearance of Dwight Bachman. Nira, I know it hasn't been long, but have you found anything yet?"
Nira's voice came back. "No, Commander. We just started canvasing the area where the badge was found, using thorough deep scans of the vegetation and top soil. Traces of his DNA have been scanned, so he was here. As for the Arboretum, it is shut down and I have people blocking entry to the crew. Going through the manifest I did have the computer scan for bio-signatures and all others are accounted for. Dwight, so far, is the only one missing."
"Computer raise shields," Cyndi ordered "We didn't dock in hopes that we'd be spared and Dwight is missing. Nira look for dust and dirt that does not belong to the Arboretum."
"Already doing so, Commodore." Nira had read the incoming reports from the away teams, seeing as that data was a matter for Security aboard the Amandora. "It would be wise if we allowed the crew to arm themselves," advised Nira. "Phasers set to stun, if SanChez agrees."
"Agreed," Cyndi responded drawing her own phaser and set it to heavy stun before returning it to her pocket. "I want answers between three ships, star base and now here something has to be found and understood as to why this is happening. They want something and we have to find out before anyone else goes missing."
Ro reached up and tapped her badge. "Green to Ainkara. Do you read?"
Ainkara's voice came back. "Yes, Commander."
"Status report."
"Myself and Barnes, along with two marines, went down to the bowels of the base where we gathered the children, hunting an injured insectoid." Explained Ainkara. "We found the creature, severely wounded, and we aided it with healing. It is now with us as we have just returned to Sickbay, here. It is neither aggressive, nor does it seem to want to harm us. In fact, it came along with us without incident or argument."
"Admiral Sanderson informed me Herculoid may be able to communicate with it. Seek her out and have her try," Cyndi said "We need answers."
Ainkara responded. "It seems to understand us well enough. But the UT still does not recognize its language. As for Herculoid, I see them all standing across Sickbay from us. We returned, they are still talking. The insectoid is now standing between two biobeds, comfortably, while Jacobs and Scabbia guard the door. Barnes is next to me and the 'bug', as everyone keeps calling him."
"Him?" Asked Green.
"Yes, Commander." Ainkara answered. "I used the Force to heal its injury. Had I not he may have died. In that time the Force told me it was a male."
"He may have the answers we need," Cyndi commented "First sign it turns hostile stun it. How are the children?"
"When I left to go hunting the insectoid, they seemed fine. All are currently sleeping and the Doctor has reduced the temperature in Sickbay by 20 degrees for whatever reason. The insectoid does not seem pleased but he is staying still." Said Ainkara. "I will go speak with young Jensen Larson in a few minutes to see how he is coming along." She then added. "I will do my best to get him, Jensen, to bring his friends to Amandora."
"Pardon the interruption," said Nira. "But, I have to focus here. Nira, out." Her part of the channel cut.
"I'd feel better if they were over here, I did see a report that the bugs don't like the cold, that could be why Long reduced the temperature there," Cyndi said.
"That stands to reason, Commodore," Ainkara responded. "The children had built a camp inside a large chamber between air vents, and the temperature there was a bit chilly. He must have said why to Long and the others after I left. I will sign off for now, if you don't mind, and confer with the Doctor and the Admiral. Once that meeting is finished I will speak to young Mister Larson and see what he would like to do. In all honesty, I would feel better if he chose to move to Amandora so I will try and be convincing."
"Keep me posted," Cyndi said turning to Ro, "We'll get the answers Ro I promise you."
Green remained calm, her Acolyte doing a fine job as a Meji and a Starfleet officer. "I will remain patient. Ainkara, see if the insectoid would like to come over, as well. Perhaps having one of their own aboard the Amandora might lead to a dialogue between his people and ours. That, and personally, I am curious about them."
"Commodore, Commander, I will do so if possible. Ainkara, out."
"Thank you for listening in, Lieutenant SanChez. Green, out." Ro double tapped her badge to close the channel with Security. She then looked to Cyndi. "Now we wait to see what may come."
"Hopefully Herculoid can communicate with them and hopefully the children will agree to come over too. We need answers and I wonder what Rivers and Money have found in that solar system, they're late reporting in," Cyndi commented.
"I'm sure their sensors can detect the basics, but anything in-depth, like underground hives or nests, will take more than scanners to detect." Stated Green. "As the reports say they do have a transporter-teleportation type of technology. If they have that they may have other technology to remain hidden, like any insect hive would to avoid danger or predators. I mean, Dwight is gone and not once did the internal sensors detect a threat, a new person aboard, nothing. Maybe they themselves have some special adaptation against being detected on scans. A great defense mechanism."
"Anything is possible, and hopefully this being will have some answers," Cyndi said.
Ro was calm again, as were her twins. "I'll return to the Bridge. At least we have something to move forward with now." Turning from her CO, Green walked out of the Ready Room.
Cyndi watched her go, got to her feet and looked out her window at the vastness of space that laid beyond the base and shifted her attention to the solar system. There had to be answers as to why the people of the base and ships were taken.
