Mission:
Vanished
Location: Amandora and Star Base
Timeline: Current
On:
[[Amandora]]
West dropped the device off with Engineering and headed to Marine Country. He needed to make sure the men were ready in case they were needed on the ground once the eggheads managed to figure out how the device worked.

Ensign Ocha frowned as he listened to one of the lab technicians describe an alien that had just beamed on board the Star Base. He was mildly distracted by the fact that, while it seemed improbable, her mind was moving even faster than the words coming from her mouth. Something she said, however, caught his attention. Evidently the Alien resembled a giant ant. While the species was not found on Betazed, he was quite familiar with them through his interest in plants and their symbiotic relationships with insects. A thrill went through him as he thought about the possibilities of a humanoid-sized insect, so he wasted no time in tracking down where they had taken it. Within moments, he was headed out to Sickbay.
On his way out of the lab, he nearly ran headlong into his boss, Lt Zolon. He saluted as she strode passed, a concerned look on her face, and emanating from her emotions.
“Something wrong, Lieutenant?” He asked.
“I’ve spent the last several hours scanning this sector looking for some way to track down our missing people, and so far I’ve come up empty handed.” She said. “I’m hoping the lab will yield more answers.” She said, and headed inside.
Ilim made a mental note to come see what he could do to help…after her met the ship’s new guest.
[[Sickbay]}
A small crowd had gathered outside Sickbay, and Ilim strained to get a peek through the throng. Urgent whispering amongst the crewmen confirmed his suspicion that this was no ordinary alien. Considering the majority of the crew were human, it was no surprise they jumped at the opportunity to see an enormous version of one of their own planet’s creatures.
Given his background, he knew that insects that interacted to any great degree with plants tended to secrete pheromones, designed both to allow them to communicate with each other but also to communicate with the plants, in a limited way. Where a universal language in the traditional sense did not exist, pheromones were nature’s version of a truly universal language. He whipped out his tricorder and scanned the air and, as he suspected, it was positively saturated with them. They would be harmless and undetected by humans, but he wondered if the plants on board were reacting to them. Then, like a proverbial light-bulb, he had an idea.
Promising himself he would come back and meet this Antis once the fervor died down, he headed back to the lab.

“Lieutenant!” He practically shouted as he stumbled into the lab.
Zolon looked up from her computer. “What is it?”
“I think I found a way we may be able to track our people.” He said, waving his tricorder. “Scan the sector for this biological compound.”
She tapped a keys on the computer, keying in the genetic sequence. Within seconds, the computer chirped in the affirmative. “It’s feint, but it’s there.” She said excitedly. “I need to get to the bridge.”
