Amethyst stood looking at herself in the mirror, it was morning of day 4 of her pregnancy the start of month 4. Her slim figure was showing the signs of a developing bump and it was only going to get bigger as the days went by. She brushed her hair before setting out for Sickbay, H’iri had requested daily check in’s to check the progress of her pregnancy.

As she arrived at Sickbay Amethyst smiled warmly as she saw Tore. “Good Morning Doctor. Doctor H’iri requested I stop by for daily check-ups so here I am.”

Tore gave Amethyst a lighthearted expression backed by a grin. "So, here you are. Please, have a seat or lie on the biobed. Either way we'll get those scans done." He motioned and then patted the surface cushion of the bed he was near to.

Amethyst smiled and hopped up onto the biobed, she'd done this all before when she'd gone through her first pregnancy with Kal. At least that had been at a normal rate. "Would you save some scan images for me please?" Amethyst looked at Tore as she lay back on the biobed. "This isn't my first baby so I'm kind of used to the routine, my son is five now."

"That we can do," he said, tapping the controls on the wall for the bed scanners to activate. "You are drastically dehydrated. I can only surmise that the sapling in your belly is requiring an inordinate amount of water. Makes sense as it is a tree--person."

“Thank you for approving me to go along to the Starbase with you, I appreciate your trust.” Amethyst smiled. “I promise no silly rookie mistakes from now on. I only ate that fruit Brol gave me because I thought it was going to help me not change me.”

"Hence, why Starfleet protocols are in place." Tore spoke plainly, not softening his tone or sugarcoating. One person's folly could spell doom for an entire crew. "If it ever happens again I will recommend, at the command level as well as medically, that you NEVER be allowed on away teams again. Everyone on this ship is at risk every time people decide to tempt fate. Imagine if that fruit had given you some lethal contagion, which you would have brought right back here. Yes, transporters filter out contagions, but only those it can define as such. There are those we have yet to classify, that may not appear deadly until it's too late." He gave her a casual side glance and a grin. "Promise me you'll use restraint in the future."

“I swear on my life that I won’t ever be so stupid again!” Amethyst offered a smile. “I should have stopped myself before, Consider it lesson learned.”

Tore gave a friendly grin. "Fair enough."

“Oh and before I forget the cream that Lieutenant H’iri gave me seems to be working” She motioned to the spot where H’iri had found a bark like formation on her skin. “It’s stopped the itch but my skin still feels rough, I’m not sure if it’s stopped the growth she found or not.”

Bjorgo brought out his feinberger from the slot it had on the medicla tricorder, hovering the device over the area in question. He watched the screen, seeing what it was telling him before shutting it off and placing back in its slot. "Well, this is new. It appears you're growing bark overtop your epidermis. Seems that the little one is trying to protect itself."

“Herself” Amethyst smiled. “Her name is Flora, I guess that explains the bark. I have no wish to turn into a walking plant so I hope the cream H’iri gave me continues to work, before you say it I’ll report any problems.”

Bjorgo grinned. "I would hope so if you're growing bark on your ass," he chuckled. "Apologies. My sense of humor is dry, at times. Anyway, should you mutate into a tree what would you like to be called, as a designation. I mean we have pine trees, oak trees, so on and so forth. So, would you be an Amethyst tree?"

“Mmm Maybe” Amethyst grinned. “I’ll just cross fingers and hope I don’t end up covered in bark!” She smiled warmly. “Anyway if you’re done with me I’ll head on my way and see either you or H’iri tomorrow.”

Tore gave a light laugh. "Yes, you're free to go. Any complications don't hesitate to come back to Sickbay. If Flora survives all this you'll be in the medical history files for the UFP. Along with H'iri and I."

“I’m not listening to if’s Doctor, my daughter will survive she’s a fighter just like me!” Amethyst smiled as she hopped down from the biobed. “Thank you for all your help Doctor,”

"You're welcome," responded Bjorgo as she headed for the door. Positive thinking was always a good thing.
