Reports sorted Amethyst made her way to the Arboretum, she needed to speak with Brol and while Will was busy seemed the best time to do it. As she entered the Arboretum she suddenly felt a connection that lead her straight to where Brol was, the last time she was here she’d had to call Brol but not this time. It was as though something instinctive told her just where to go. “Hello Brol” she offered a smile as she approached hoping Brol didn’t mind her being there.
" My friend. I have missed you. You are glowing. Is the child well?" asked Brol in a voice no longer anamaniac.
“Very well thank you” Amethyst smiled. “It seems this baby will be born in a matter of days I’m already two months pregnant and it’s only been two days.” She paused. “Brol ... I’m afraid of how my body will cope with such a fast pregnancy, for my species it usually takes ten months not ten days to have a child.”
" Amethyst do see these fruit called tomato? Pick it. If you pick it the plant still lives. Your baby grows like this tomato. With sunshine, water and the right nutrients the tomato become ripe." said Brol.
“So you’re comparing my baby to a ripening fruit?” She gave Brol a curious look. “I still don’t understand what’s happening to me, you said I’m Brol now but you didn’t explain exactly what that means. What are my strengths and more concernedly my weaknesses?”
" So many questions. You need to trust me," Brol replied as its trunk like limbs encompassed her.
(( We have made you to be like us now Friend. You little girl will be a hybrid of all that is you and is Brol. We do not know hiw this will unfold but we will be a family to you and to Flora )) Brol replied mentally to Amethyst.
Unaware to both Will arrived to confront the Brol being as he had planned all along.
" Get your Damn limbs off OFF MY WIFE!" Will yelled as he rushed to do it himself.
Amethyst looked across to Will, she was surprised to see Will in such a jealous state. "Will... It's okay! Brol was just trying to comfort me that's all."
" I bet it was. Brol I have tolerated your crap long enough," Will yelled as his rage vented. Grabbing a nearby pruning tool will started to cut Brols limb but suddenly found himself falling to the floor in agony as Brol used telekenesis to subdue him.
" Thou shalt not kill." Brol spoke.
" STOP IT! BOTH OF YOU!" Amethyst stood looking at the two of them. All of this because of me!!" She shook her head before running out of the arboretum in tears. She headed to the only place she could find to be alone, for now she didn't want to be found.
Will was released as he felt the weight come off of him.
" Go to her Will. She needs you," Brol told him. " But first I have something I want to give you."
< A few minutes later >
Will ran out and went in search of his Imzadi. Brol had given him something that would help their situation.
(( Amethyst please stop running. )) Will mentally said in his mind as Brol had given him the very same fruit he had given Amethyst. Will’s would only work for a while as he did not have a natural telepathic ability.
Amethyst was surprised to hear Will’s voice in her mind. (( Will? )) She paused where she was before sighing, she could feel his concern for her wellbeing through the bond they already shared. (( Meet me in the holodeck))
A few minutes later the holodeck doors opened to reveal calming green hillsides, blue skies and Amethyst sitting under the shade of a tree overlooking a sea view. The sun was shining and she was trying to enjoy the calm and tranquility around her.
Will joined later and spied the sane view. Afraid at first that Brol had manifested itself to join her.
Will paused as he thought to mentally speak. No doubt a new trait from the fruit. Will spoke from his own words.
" Amethyst I'm sorry I was so jealous. I totally lost it and that was wrong. Real loves comes with trust. I trust you. Brol and I made friends I guess sort of. This mystic stuff is way over my head." Will said.
Amethyst nodded as she kept her gaze on the view for a few moments longer. “Brol and I are ... we’re the same Will, I’m part Brol now and so is our daughter ...” she paused. “Brol called her Flora, I’d like to keep the name it seems ... appropriate.” She turned to look at him. “Promise me you won’t ever fight with another because of me.”
" For once I get it. It's a thousand ways of weird but that's what we look for out here. Boldly going where no one has gone before. Amethyst I'm in this for the long haul. Flora huh, he has done named our kid?" Will replied.
"Actually ... No" Amethyst smiled. "It was a name I was considering given how this baby was conceived. It seems appropriate given that both she and I are somehow part plant life forms now. Actually I think that maybe you should order some tests, Starfleet will want answers about what's happened to me and we'll need results to show them. I'll have whatever tests are needed, the science department will love this!" She looked at Will for a moment. "Are you ... like us too? Is the fruit changing you too?"
" Brol said mine was temporary as I am not telepathic. I don't care I just wanted to find you. Brol is not as bad as I thought. Mysterious for sure. Brol shut his mind to me the moment I tried to say thanks. " Will replied.
“Can you blame him?” She offered an understanding nod. “To be honest I’m surprised you’re not going insane, you’re not a natural telepath ... did Brol shield your mind from the input from the crew? I don’t just get your thoughts I get those of every person aboard the ship, they just mingle in the background in a permanent hum. It’s taken years of experience to learn to block them out.”
" I just have you on my mind is all. I had to find you. I just focused on you. I think it's effects are gone now." Will replied.
Amethyst nodded and gently reached out a hand to touch Will’s face. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean to run off like that, I wanted to have another baby with you but I wanted to do it right. I wanted to plan and have time to enjoy sorting everything with you instead we’ve only got a matter of days.”
Amethyst moved to lay her head gently on Will’s leg, looking up at him. “I know she will. At least this time I have you here with me, I won’t have to go through it alone. For that I’m grateful.
" Only because I never knew." Will replied.
Amethyst nodded. “That was my fault, I should have tried harder to reach you.” She offered a brief smile. “Let’s go home Will, I need to spend family time with you and Kal.”
