ON:
Since her return to the Amandora, Nira had kept in contact with a dear friend on a distant world. They went back and forth about their lives, traded standard gossip, and so forth. Of course, the friend continued to inquire about Rogue, and being who she was, Nira kept that part of their conversation to a minimum. It was not her place to fill them in on Green's doings. If they wanted to know more then they would need to ask Ro herself. But, as the time passed, a plan formed between them, with Nira suggesting that the friend come and visit and speak to Green face to face, with the Puazi offering to gate them to the Amandora. All was put in place and planned for as Nira prepared herself for a portal jump that would cross many light years on a two way trip. She had to get there, gather them, and then come back. It would tax her greatly, but for Green, she would cross the fires of Hades.
Alpha shift had ended, and with Cyndi seeing to another matter in the holodecks, Green set an officer of the deck and left the Bridge, making her way to her quarters. Upon entry, knowing every centimeter of her quarters, Ro noticed the device sitting on her coffee table. As the door closed behind her she raised her hand with open fingers, the item flying across the room and landing solidly in her grip. She wrapped her fingers around the familiar hilt, the lightsaber fitting in her palm like a glove, all her memories rushing back at having used it numerous times in defense of others. She ignited the cloud blue blade, waving it around as it thrummed and changed pitch while slicing through the air. How it got here she could only imagine, since it was she who had told the Q to rid her of this weapon. It seemed that whatever the Q, named Qeritas, had in mind for Green next, it would involve a great amount of danger. Otherwise, why bring her faithful lightsaber back into her possession?
Closing the weapon down Green walked through her quarters, placing the saber hilt on the end table next to her favorite chair, proceeding to her bedroom and stripping down. A hot shower, then air drying as she brushed out her hair, Green then turned and collected her garments and put them through the refresher. Still nude, Ro walked to her small kitchen area and gathered a small bowl of mixed fruit and a glass of mineral water. Placing those items on the end table by her chair, Green then went in and braided her hair after it had dried. A French braid with the length folded up and clasped to the back of her head. She picked some casual attire to wear, leggings and a loose fitting belly shirt with a sports bra beneath. Going back out she then sat down with a contented sigh and took up her bowl of fruit, placing it on her lap to nibble on as she read her PADD.
A quarter of an hour went by, with Ro casually scrolling through reports, her bowl of fruit set aside as she had consumed over half of it. Then she heard it, that familiar sound of the Eldritch portal opening. She set the bowl aside as she looked straight ahead, seeing the amber swirling sparks of the portal forming in the empty space between the living space and the kitchen area. The standing circle expanded enough to allow a person to walk through without having to duck and through it Ro could see a cavernous chamber, one she knew too well. It was the caverns that the insectoids, known as Gilliks, had claimed for their hive. And, one man came from outside the view of the portal and walked through it without hesitation. He had that smile on his face that Green had fallen in love with a year ago, and seeing him Green set her bowl aside, jumped to her feet, and rushed in to hug him. "Dwight!" She said as she wrapped him in a loving embrace. But, before he could respond Ro released the hug enough to bring her face near to his, planting a firm, loving kiss on him. He responded in kind, and after a minute of passionate kissing they both got themselves under control and she eased back enough to look at his face, but not enough to totally release him. His eyes were no longer the ink black they were before, as a 'joiner' to the Gilliks. They were back to being the ice blue, dreamy eyes she had come to love. "Your eyes. Are you no longer a part of the hive?"
Dwight just kept smiling, finally holding in his arms the woman whom he had fallen madly in love with, and the mother of his children. "No, my love. I am still a part of the hive, as are Isaac and Alona. But, with time, we were able to return to ourselves and keep the link to the hive when needed."
The portal was still open, still swirling, and Green glanced over his shoulder behind him, hoping to catch even a glance at their twins. "Are they here?" He gave a mischievous smile. Green playfully slapped his chest. "Don't be snarky," she said with a smile. "Are they coming?"
"Yes, love." Dwight stepped to the side and turned to face the portal with his lover. "They have grown considerably since last you spoke to them. The Gilliks saw fit to accelerate their growth, for whatever reason. Gilliks grow and mature very quickly, so they figured the children should to, I guess."
"What? How so...I mean. How much?" Asked Green.
"Ye shall see," Bachman replied.
Two young people came from around the outer edge of the portal, both wearing beautifully hand-stitched clothing made of leather. They carried Gillik style resin daggers, and each had a footman's lance, again Gillik design, in their hands. The young woman, Alona, was fair haired like her father, her blonde locks flowing down her head and cascading over her shoulders, with a pair of braids on either side of her face where men would have sideburns. The male was dark haired, like his mother. Isaac had grown well, matching his sister for a perfect physique and an intense gaze, his own hair long down to his shoulder blades, with a portion of that tied back in a leather thong to prevent it from getting in his eyes. Both had their mother's eyes, dark blue and intense, and there was no denying that they were twins.
"Mother!" They said in stereo as they gazed upon their parent, both dropping their spears to the carpeted floor and stepping in quickly. Dwight released Ro so she could respond to the incoming embrace, which she did with gusto. The three came together, tears flowing as they held onto each other, repeatedly giving squeezes of love and longing. Once they got themselves under control they broke apart to face each other.
Nira came through the portal looking exhausted, and as she came through it closed behind her. As the Security Chief, she had shut down the alarm for intruder alert before Dwight had ever stepped through. That way a team of armed Security would not bum rush Ro's quarters ready to act. "Catch up, I need rest," she said, heading for the door.
Green had her children hold for a minute, stepping over to Nira and hugging her hard, thanking her repeatedly for the visit. "I owe you, sister! This is quite the birthday gift, thank you!"
"You owe nothing, Ro," said Nira. "I do what is necessary for family. But, it has taxed me, I must rest."
"Go, sister, we'll talk later." Green replied, watching her dear friend leave and drag her feet. She turned back to her family, a smile on her face. "Come! Let's sit and catch up! I want to hear everything that has happened since last we spoke on holo."
The family group all took seats, sitting lotus on the floor in the middle of the 'living room' space after gathering beverages and snacks. The back and forth began, with Ro Green never being as happy as she was now. The man she loved was here, and the children she had left with him had also come to visit. They had spoken many times by communication, but to have them physically here, able to touch and hug them, was a blessing beyond measure. And, their size. When last she had spoken to them they had appeared to be your average seven year old Humans. Now, with the growth acceleration that the Gilliks had imbued upon them, they looked to be around thirteen. It was epic!
So, with the family together, they sat and talked for hours, each side telling the others about their adventures and their lives since last they had spoken. Green could not keep her hands off of them, always clasping their hands or stroking their faces, and she sat next to Dwight Bachman so close one would think she was attached at the hip. It was all laughter, tears of joy, and communion.
