#18 Preparedness

Having been told to prepare the USS Euphrates for departure from Danvers by Captain Green, Lieutenant Kara was inside the small starship. Each system was getting a level 3 diagnostic since Ro had stated it was not a rush but, when the new USS Amandora showed up and the crew was recalled, she wanted to just lift off and go. So, being assigned as the ACEO of Amandora by Green, to aid Montgomery, Kara made sure to do as ordered. The aquarium that Sheyla had put aboard took up most of the aft section which made movement difficult back there, but not impossible. Kara had the deck plates open to access the machinery below deck while at the same time using a PADD and consoles to run the diagnostics. If a system showed any type of glitch then she looked into it and replaced whatever needed to be to keep Euphrates at peak operating efficiency.

The group of officers who were also Meji had all donned their Starfleet uniforms. It felt good to have hers back on even though she did wear an equipment belt for her tricorder, PADD, and her lightsaber. It would be a constant for the rest of her career so she might as well get used to it. Sheyla had stopped by a few times to check on her and see if she needed any help, and if not, she would drop off a few more critters in the aquarium and depart. Kara could not fault her for her dedication to the sea life of Danvers, happy that her friend and pupil had found something noble to pour her time into outside of any duties to other causes.

If Kara was to be honest with herself, which she always strived to do, she was looking forward to getting back out there. She had joined Starfleet first, thanks to being rescued and awakened by the Amandora. Having proven herself enough for Starfleet to grant her a commission, Kara had turned into a dedicated officer. Then, meeting Green and forming an unbreakable bond, she began to learn about the Core and had become Meji. Ainkara's life was exactly where it should be and she was glad for it.
