#9 Preparing

Posted on Thu Oct 2nd, 2025 @ 6:43pm by Lieutenant Commander Emma Parker

Mission: Healing Touch-3

ON:

Once the meeting was over, Emma headed straight to her office. She’d called in a security detail and filled them in on the mission, ordering them to replicate clothing, see the doctor for the ear adjustment and to collect a weapon and meet her in the transporter room.

Once they left, she gave her assistant his orders for while she was gone. Emma had a strong work relationship with him and they discussed the pros and cons to both the commodore and first officer going. In conclusion, it was her call, security would simply do their best to protect them.

Emma headed out, stopping at her quarters to make certain Marcus and Lily were taken care of while she and Benjamin were gone. She gave her children a hug and told them she would be back before they knew it.

Heading to sickbay, Emma located Doctor Long and had her treat her ears so that she would be ready when it was time to go. She then replicates clothing that was suitable to blend in when they went down to the planet.

Emma studied herself in a mirror and smiled. She did not recognize herself. It wasn’t the first time she had had to alter her appearance. Emma knew the importance of not breaking the prime directive, it was something that they all lived by. Which was why she understood the concern that security would break their cover. Emma knew that was not going to happen.
Her security personnel were very good at what they dod.
They would blend in and no one would even know they carried weapons.

After leaving medical, Emma grabbed some replicated energy bars, one never knew what might happen so it was good to be prepared for the unexpected. She then checked in with her officers who were going on the mission and headed to the transporter room. She was all set and wanted to give her people the once over to make certain they had not missed anything.

A few minutes later she entered the transporter room her people
Right behind her. She checked them over and was not surprised to see that everything was as it should be. They had been careful yet thorough in following her directions. There should not be any issues about their readiness.

Emma knew Benjamin was off preparing himself as well. She had sent him a message that the children were all set and he had said he would stop and say goodbye to them. Emma smiled as she thought of her husband and children. They really had a good life.

She wondered what they would find on this mission. What traditions and way of life these people would have. They had a little information but you never really knew until you got down there and mingled among them.

This was one of the reasons Emma had joined Starfleet. She wanted to experience first contact, to make a difference in their universe and being in Starfleet had been her dream for as long as she could remember. Having married Benjamin and serving out here together made it even better, as did their two children.

Emma thought this was a great place to raise their children. They would have the advantage of meeting new species and people.
Their schooling and studies would teach them about many things and someday when they ere grown they would have the freedom to make those choices theirselves. But that was a long ways down the road from now. As the doors slid open her attention turned as some of the team arrived.
