Ensign James Frazier was extremely stoked to have pulled the straw to stand at the tactical station this shift. Usually a security grunt James could wait to expand his career and experience.
" Good morning Captain Sir ...I mean Ma'am. Frazier...Ensign Frazier reporting to tactical duty that is I mean." he greeted in a fumbled manner.
Alesha nodded "Keep an eye on sensors, we should be okay as we're the only Federation ship that has been here. Sensors didn't pick up anything before the away team left the ship."
" Standard scans reveal nothing out of the ordinary Captain." Frazier exhaled before replying. This was so cool, so exciting to be behind the security and tactical display.
As luck would have it the away teams life signs were very much different than any other life forms.
"Stay alert, I don;t want any surprises," Alesha said "I don't want to scratch the commodore's new ship."
James snickered to himself as that was a helm thing. But in utilising his sensors James did discover one obscure point of interest that might peak the Captain.
" Sensors are detecting a large vein of gold very near one of the settlements Captain. " Frazier reported.
"I wonder if the people are aware if the gold," Alesha commented "Scan it and let me know how pure it is,"
" Scanning...there appears to be a heat source nearby. The vein appears to run deep Captain." Frazier replied.
Alesha got up from the command chair and walked over to the science station and looked at the readings. "The heat source could be camp fires. As there looks to be several of them. As for the gold, I'd like a sample but I'm not willing to risk beaming a sample up as I don't want to risk the inhabitants seeing anything. Send a message to the Commodore.and inform her."
" Aye Captain. Sending a coded message . Dang this is fun, if I lived 300 years ago and had these sensors I would have been rich." Frazier replied.
Alesha couldn't help but smile, "That goes for all of us, but I don;t think I'd want to know the future."
" But it is fun to learn about our pasts." Frazier replied lending to another thought. " Message sent Captain Rivers."
"Learning from the past is one thing but knowing the future is something I don't want to know," Alesha said "Thank you for sending the message to the commodore."
" This shift is far more fun than watching prisoners. " James added as he scanned his board to make sure he hadn't missed anything. " Nothing unusual to report at this time."
"Don't get too comfortable," Alesha cautioned "Stay sharp, I don't want any surprises."
Frazier accepted the scolding and did indeed focus all the more honored to be on his first tactical shift.
"Your doing fine, this is your first time on the bridge so your bound to be nervous," Alesha reminded him.
