Duty called and as Will had to be back on the station to ensure the shuttle routes were on schedule.

Will also took liberty and hoisted Kal in his right arm carrying him to show off his son.

" Lt Kelleth, this is acting ensign Kal, my boy. " Will introduced.

The Kaferian officer buzzed and then greeted.

" Greeetings Kallll."

" Kal she is a Kaferian insectoid species. " Will told Kal.

Kal looked at Kelleth and offered a curious smile. He was at a stage where anything new, even an insect was curious. “You are an insect?” He looked wide eyed at the sheer thought. “Christina says insects are important to a ... a ...” he paused. “Eco ... thingy.”

Will chuckled.

" Yes they are son. And Kelleth is a pilot like your ole Dad was...is."

“You can fly daddy!?” Kal looked at his father curiously. “Can I go one day ... if mummy says I can?”

" Actually you can today. We are going to go to all of the docking ports and point this device at them. If it turns green it is online. If it stays red it is not. Are you ready acting ensign Kal?" his Daddy asked him.

Kal nodded enthusiastically before giving his father a worried look. “Can we go and see mummy before we go home?”

" Son we will when the new Doctor says it is ok. Let's go do this task and we will check in with sickbay afterwards." Will replied as he led him towards the survey shuttle.

Will could tell Kal was worried and buzzed sickbay.

Kal looked at his father eager to speak to his mummy. =/\= Mummy!! Are you okay? =/\=

Amethyst heard the concern in her son’s voice. =/\= Hey Sweetheart! I’m fine, I’m being well looked after so don’t you worry. You enjoy yourself with daddy okay? Mummy loves you! =/\=

Kal looked at Will. =/\= Yes Mummy. I love you too mummy =/\=

Will teared up and swallowed as emotions filled him. He had never been this in love and this exposed mentally to people.

=/\= As do I Imzadi. Have fun both of you. =/\= the comms closed.

Kal looked at his father more reassured now he’d heard his mother’s voice.

" And away we...go." Will replied as their shuttle headed to the first docking port. Kal pushed the button and the green light shined.

This occured several more times before they both returned to the cargo bay.

" How did it go acting ensign Kal?" asked Kelleth, who was still on duty.

“It was ... great!!!” Kal jumped for joy as he smiled at Kelleth, “I had soooo much fun!”

" Good. Commander Raymond the last three freighters have just arrived and Captain Templeton is not happy, again. He says he is tired of by passing the sensor buoy in quad two." Kelleth reported.

" Tell the Captain that unless he wishes to not make it back home the next trip he needs to follow the trade route." Will replied.

" Yes sir."

Will then escorted his son back to the Amandora and allowed him some personal kid time. He had to return to the base but knew Christina the nurse would be available.

For Will work was often his solace during times like these.
