Mission:
Star Base Mercury
Location: Commodore's Ready Room - USS Amandora
Timeline: Current
[ON]
Saunder's had just finished training Mercury Station plasma core reactor engineers. The Starfleet personnel was as professional as they had graduated. There was relatively no issues, except for a few re-calculations of the core and set up.
Exiting the turbo-lift, Damien had rubbed at his right eye. It had become bloodshot from the amount of sleep, instead, lack of sleep he had received in the past few days. The station had become his nightmare and dream, all in one. The Engineering crew, along with medical training with Dr. Bjoro, had completed.
He was now directly handing his report to Commodore Song, who was busy with the station management. He had hoped he was not bothering her, as he was dropping by her ready room.
Nodding to the current skeleton staff on the Main Bridge, he made his way to Commodore Song's office. Taking a breath, he calmed his self down. He hadn't wanted to present tired energy when he entered her room. Chiming her doorway, he waited for a sign from within. The central computer had identified this as her current position onboard.
"Enter," Cyndi called grateful for the break
Damien entered the room, the doors hissing behind him, to a thud closed. "Commodore. Am I interrupting you?"
"You are but I needed the break," Cyndi replied "Have a seat and tell me what I can do for you?"
"Good." He smiled. He then took a seat. "I'm here to report that the Mercury Core reactor ST-1101 is up and running. The 7 staff engineers have completed training to my satisfactory, all have passed assigned Starfleet Engineering Maintenance, Over ride, and Medical triaging." He had pulled up the necessary information on his report padd and then presented it to the Commodore.
Cyndi took the offered PADD and leaned back in her seat as she read it "Impressive to say the least. You've outdone yourself on this. Have you given a copy of this to Mercury's CO Captain Leaf? Do you feel the engineers on the Mercury are ready to be on their own?"
"I have not Ma'am. I wanted to run it by you first." Damien acknowledged. "I shall do that." He assured her. He then eyed her desk for a moment, mulling the question. "The team dynamics are there. They work coherently, and work together in emergencies well." He held up a hand.. "One instance I had to address the level of communication. I keep on telling them that communication is their ally, you can never over communicate. And I think the engineering staff heeded that." Saunders had felt.
"That's great," Cyndi said "Have you given them a test? Something that they'll really have to work on to figure it out? Give them some kind of test and have them tell you how they'd handle it. Say for example a ship in one of the docking rings won't release to permit the ship to leave. Your more than welcome to use this ship for your test as we are docked. But I am very impressed with what you've managed to do so far."
"That would be a good idea, Commodore. I hadn't thought of bringing the team onboard the Amandora." He winked. "I would rather them mess up on the base side!" He chuckled. "But in all serious, this would be a great chance to see where they would start on the Amandora engineering systems, a few metrics to solve." He nodded. He had received the padd once more from Cyndi.
"No reason they can't work on both sides, the Amandora and the base," Cyndi suggested "They'd have to figure what is wrong and how to fix it."
"I was only concerned with them getting in the way of operations. But seeing as we are docked still. Why not." He agreed. "Thank you Commodore for your insight." He nodded.
"How are you doing Ma'am? Station wise. Will this be a favorable outcome for the fleet?"
"Station wise I believe Captain Leaf has a good command staff. I have a few more meetings with her and her first and second officers. As far as the fleet goes and as we venture more out here and discover what lies out here this base could be a busy hub. There are a few smaller bases further out but they are not Federation," Cyndi commented "I'm looking forward myself to getting an chance to explore this system before we pull out."
"It is a promising system. I understand we have a shuttle craft out taking preliminary data?" Saunders was curious.
"That we do," Cyndi replied "And I have my own personal shuttle, it was a gift from my parents when I received my promotion to captain. It's full of the latest scientific equipment they could get. I've not had a chance to use it much. But am looking forward to taking it out."
"Sounds like a real nice gift!" He was amazed. "Perhaps sometime if you need someone to run down some checks. I could ride along. What type of engines she have, Ma'am?" He asked curious.
"My parents have always encouraged me to follow my dream and I love science. I kept turning down promotions as I didn't want to leave science but this time I couldn't get out of it," Cyndi commented "The shuttle was built on my home planet of Klavor so the engines are not Federation." she pulled open a drawer on her desk and after a few adjustments from the Klavorian language into English she haded the PADD over to him "Its able to reach warp four, two torpedoes and a fully charged phaser bank. You can keep the PADD I do have another one and if you'd like to see it she's in hanger bay one in a corner under a tarp. It is passworded which I will give you should you wish to take a closer look at it and I'd welcome it if you'd like to come along with me next time I take it out," Cyndi commented
Saunders was more than honored to be given the specs to the Commodore’s shuttle, let alone the pass key to its systems. Damien would keep this information secret and confidential with his life.
“Commodore, Cyndi.” He smiled. “I would be honored. I am very excited to check over new technology, as advanced as a Klavorian private yacht.” On the other hand, he was secretly happy to get some time with the Commodore perhaps and get to know her better. She was kind and beautiful. "Whenever... You want to take it out, I am all ears!" He nodded.
"As soon as my busy schedule calms down I will be taking it out. I've not flown it since I piloted it to Jupiter Station when I received the orders to take over as captain of this ship," Cyndi commented
"How did she flow Ma'am?" Damien was interested. He didn't want to take up too much of her time, as she was busy he could sense, but he was happy she was indulging him.
"She did wonderfully, but I've not had it out since. It's been a few months since it was last flown," Cyndi replied. "She probably could use some checking out, I admit I've neglected it."
"Well, sounds like I could take a look at her, see things over for you?" He had then got up from his seat, and placed his arms behind him. "Thank you Commodore, I will see to it that your recommendations are completed." He gave a smile and nod.
"Thank you lieutenant," Cyndi replied
