After enjoying breakfast with her husband, he had gone off to meet his assistant and then tour the Labs when finished. So Heather figured that she may as well start at the top and work her way down.

Tapping her Comm "Commodore Song this is Lieutenant Heather McTavish, could me meet for a few minutes at your convenience."

Cyndi tapped her com-badge "I'm in science lab two, feel free to come here."

"On my way Ma'am" Heather replied and grabbed her PADD to see where science lab two was....oh it's on this deck and with that she was off.

When she walked into the science lab she noticed the Commodore and walked up to her and snapped to attention "Lt. Heather McTavish Ma'am" she stated "Thank you for seeing me."

"Relax lieutenant," Cyndi said putting her micro-scope in its case and jotted down some notes "Welcome aboard, I met your husband earlier. There's a small office in the back we can talk in there," Cyndi led the way to the small science office and took a seat and indicated for Heather to have a seat.

At the Commodore's gesture Heather sat and waited for the C.O. to start the conversation; being somewhat nervous not wanting to say the wrong thing to make either her ,or even more so, her husband look bad.

"We're going to have an excellent science department," Cyndi commented Between your husband, his assistant Lieutenant Herculoid, Lieutenant Kees who is an Anthropologist, Archeologist and you as a Biologist things are going to work well in science. I'm sure you noticed I'm a scientist as well, in fact this is the office I use for my projects when my schedule permits it. Part of me regrets leaving my teaching position at Starfleet Command. But I love my command. Well enough about me. How are you finding things on the ship. Any questions or concerns for me?"

Heather thought for a few moments "Well, I'm starting to know my way around somewhat; matter of fact James and I are going on a tour sometime soon just to see what else is here. I especially want to check out ten-forward; James and I haven't had a date night in quite awhile. Also I'm very pleased with our Quarters; it is so nice. As far as questions or concerns....none that I can think of at the moment" then she continued "If you don't mind my saying so, I find it refreshing to find a C.O. that has other interests besides Command. Too often someone in Command is isolated from the rest of the Crew."

"Science has always been my first love. I loved teaching. I vowed when I got my first command that I was not going to be one of those captains that is beyond reach of her crew. My doors are always open," Cyndi said "When I got promoted to captain my parents gave me a shuttle, it's packed with every bit of science equipment known. It's aboard. As for you and your husband take the rest of the day off. Have that date night, visit ten forward and even one of the holo decks if you like. But relax and enjoy your time off. Get used to the ship."

Heather sat ,a little stunned that the C.O. gave them the rest of the day off "Commodore thank you so much, that's very nice of you. Matter of fact I just may swing by ten-forward on my way back to our Quarters and check it out. That's all I have really, I just wanted to meet you; especially since James spoke so highly of you." Heather said being very sincere.

"Your welcome and after long shuttle rides you need some down time. Be glad you didn't have to bring a three year old. I have a son and I had to take him with me a few months ago to meet my husband. A shuttle is no place for an active three year old," Cyndi commented

"I could only imagine what that must be like" Heather replied "Sadly that won't be a problem for us....you see I'm unable to have children; which we are fine with. If we ever did want a child there are enough orphan children in the galaxy for us to be able to adopt one. That is we if ever get to that point in our lives."

"I'd not trade my son for anything. You'll know when the time is right to add a child to your family," Cyndi replied "You are correct there are a lot of kids that need homes."

Heather sat for a moment thinking on what the Commodore had just said "Yes you are absolutely right, we'll know when the time is right." She replied "Well....I think that I've taken up enough of your time Commodore and thank you" she said.

"Your welcome," Cyndi said getting to her feet and put her micro-scope in a drawer and locked it. "Remember my door is always open for my crew."

"I will be sure to remember that; now I think I'll go find ten-forward. Have a good day Ma'am". Heather replied as she turned and made her way to the Lift.

When she got off the Lift ten-forward was right there; so she made her way inside to have a look around. There was a bar with a bartender and a place to get food and lots of tables and chairs to sit at. "Well isn't this nice" she thought "James would love this place."

As Heather was going back to their Quarters she tapped her Comm "Lieutenant Heather McTavish to Lieutenant James McTavish."

"Yes go ahead" came the reply.

"Are you almost done with what you're doing" she asked.

"Actually I'm back at our Quarters" James said.

"Good...I'm on my way. I have a bit of a surprise for you" she replied.
