After meeting with the Counselor, Heather wanted to make one more stop and meet with the Assistant Science Chief.
"Lt. Heather McTavish to Lt. Tara Herculoid I was wondering if we could meet at your convenience." Heather asked.
"I'm in my quarters but your welcome to come here," Tara responded
"Thank you, I be there shortly" Heather answered. She found her way to the Lieutenant's quarters where she palmed the door chime and waited for a response.
Tara walked to the door and opened it "Please come in, you must be Lieutenant McTavish, I'm Tara Herculoid," she stepped aside to let her in.
Heather walked into Tara's quarters "Thank you for seeing me; I didn't mean to intrude on your personal time. This is my last meeting and I was anxious to meet you; James talks very highly of you" she stated "And please call me Heather."
Tara shook her head, "Your not intruding at all. I left a little early as I realized I'd not heard from my parents in a few weeks and wanted to make sure everything at home was okay as it's not like us not to talk at least once a week. Please have a seat and can I get you something to drink? I do think your husband and I will get along well."
Heather made her way to a very comfortable chair "Actually yes, I'll take a water. I've already met with the Commodore and the Counselor so I'm a little parched after so much talking. I guess I'm just anxious to get back to work so I tried to get the meetings behind me quickly." she replied.
Tara walked to the kitchen and returned with a tall glass of ice water and handed it to her and then took a seat on a chair not far from her "I actually prefer water that is not replicated, something about the taste is better. Have you been to the lab yet?"
Taking a sip of water "Thank you, much better. Actually this water does have a much better taste than replicated water; I'll have to remember that. Yes, briefly. James and I went on a tour of the labs last night after a 'date night' in ten-forward, but I really didn't have too much of a chance to look around. That's what I'm looking forward to, actually having the chance to dig right in and see what's what; along with the work of course" Heather explained.
"I find that when it comes to science the work is never ending. I'm digging into probe data from a probe I launched just before we arrived at Planet Savai. I wanted to go on the away team but the commodore had other ideas. My cousin Doctor Kristian Long is on the away team and she's collecting samples and such for me," Tara commented "If you have any questions with the lab don't hesitate to ask me. I set it up," Tara replied
"I like to stay busy; makes the day go by faster. I'm sure when we get the samples from Planet Savai there will be plenty of work to go around, which is fine with me. Don't worry if I have any lab related questions I won't be afraid to ask" Heather said "Just so your aware, I plan on getting my 'feet wet' tomorrow and introduce myself to my Biology team, if that's ok."
"That's fine, and yes there is plenty of data from the probe to be analyzed same with the samples my cousin is collecting. I'll have to translate what she's collecting over into Federation Standard as the tri-coder I sent with her is in our native language. I'll be in the lab early tomorrow and look forward to working with you," Tara said smiling
"Thank you, and I'm looking forward to working with you as well. Heather replied "Well I think that I've taken up enough of your time and thank you for the water; I'll see you tomorrow then."
Heather stood and shook hands with Tara before starting for the door.
Tara walked her the door, "If I'm not on the bridge or in the lab you'll find me here and your welcome to stop by anytime."
"Thank you" Heather replied then made her way back to their quarters thinking "This has been a very productive day."
