Rushing back to her quarters Amethyst put on a brave face as she found Christina sat waiting for her return. “Hey, I ... I’m sorry I didn’t mean to be so late.”

“That’s fine” Christina smiled. “The kids are sleeping, Kal told me you went out with someone.”

“Just a friendly game of bowling” Amethyst tried to look relaxed but she wasn’t doing a very good job.

“So that’s why you’ve got love bites on your neck?” Chrissy could see something was very wrong. “What’s going on Amethyst?”

Amethyst sank down onto the sofa and promptly burst into tears, before explaining all that happened to her friend.

“Okay, it sounds to me like you were the victim of transference, the side effects of the Pon’farr from Suvak to you. You are not to blame Amethyst!” She pulled out a small medkit from a nearby cabinet. “Here, let me sort those marks for you.”

“I slept with another man Chrissy! Not just once either!!” She wiped her eyes. “What am I going to tell Will?”

“That’s not one I can answer for you” Chrissy offered a friendly smile. “If it was me, I’d be honest.”

Amethyst nodded. She loved Will with all her heart, but could she truly break his?”

“Thank you for everything Chrissy, it’s late you should go home and get some sleep.”

A few minutes later she was settled into her own bed, her mind playing over the events of the evening. In all the drama she’d completely forgotten that she, and Yova hadn’t used any protection during their fun. Inside her body the miracle of life was taking place.
