Walking into his quarters after the meeting with the Commodore he knew his wife wouldn't like the news he had. Walking up to her, he hugged her and said, "Baby, the Commodore said you couldn't go along".

Christina had been expecting this news, she wasn’t a marine or a member of the crew she was a civilian teacher and nanny. “I was expecting that” She offered a polite smile. “I’m surprised you asked me to go in the first place. Just promise me you’ll be careful.”

Smiling Hurd said, "Babe you know I'm always careful."
Kissing her, he added, "But I promise to return to you safely".

Chrissy nodded. “I wish I was going with you, but if anything happened you’d be so busy protecting me you wouldn’t be looking out for yourself. I wouldn’t want you or anyone else harmed because of me.”

"Promise you babe nobody is gonna get hurt", Hurd replied quietly. "I just have a feeling this is going to be bad is all".

Christina nodded. “No matter how bad it is, I’ll be here waiting to comfort you. I’ll always be there for you no matter what.”

"I know hun", he said wrapping his wife up in a bear hug. "And I'll always come home to you".

“You’d better!” Christina grinned. “If you don’t I’ll come looking for you, and I won’t stop until I find you.”

"Oh I know hun", he said smiling. "That's why I'll always come home to you, the love I have inside me for you will allow me to do nothing less".

Christina smiled, and kissed her husband holding him close. “I wish I could be there for you, but it’s safer my being here. I’ll be there waiting for you when you get back.”

"I promise to return to you my dearest, either carrying it or on, I'll be back".

Christina nodded. “Am I at least allowed to see you off?”

"I do belive", Hurd said kissing her, "That's a tradition".

Christina nodded. “Good, then I can wish you, and your men good luck.”

"Shall we?", Hurd smiled

Christina nodded. "I'm not going to miss seeing you off" she offered a smile even though it worried her given the circumstances. With a nod from her husband they took a few moments then headed for the shuttlebay.
