Picking up the next PADD from her pile T’Mia checked the time, she was running more or less to time which was always a good thing. Her next appointment was with Lieutenant Kahn, now all she had to do was await Liza’s arrival.
In her traditional sauntering swagger Kelliza Kahn made her way through the corridors. Some got high fives, more than most a mere smile and wink, and with a chosen few there was physical greeting. A slap on the tush, a handshake, whatever. Arriving at the Counselor's door she reached out and tapped the chime. As she did so Liza caught movement out of the corner of her eye, coming towards her in the hall.
Glancing that way Liza saw her friend Perico Brooks, a Hawaiian and quite the hottie. He was muscular and athletic, but it was more natural than from pressing weights, though she had no doubts he lifted. "Peri!" She gave a big smile and opened her arms.
"God, I hate that," Sighed out Perico humorously. He stepped in and returned the hug, once that marked them as close friends, and something more when needed.
T’Mia answered the door just in time to see Kahn and her friend hugging outside the door. “Sorry! Don’t mind me” She nodded politely as she stood in the doorway.
Liza looked over at T’Mia. "Don't be silly, love. Come on." Liza's right arm moved and extended toward T’Mia, facing upward as if to request holding hands. "Everyone needs a hug now and then." She flashed a sexy grin backed by a wink.
T’Mia offered a smile but didn’t take up the offer. “I believe you’re here for your evaluation Lieutenant, might I suggest you come on inside and take a seat.”
~Going to be professional, eh?~ thought Liza, and Kahn felt the same. She pulled her arm back and used it to pat Perico's chest. "I have an appointment. Be safe and I'll see you later." Liza separated from her friend and walked into the Counselor's 'office'. She sat down on the atypical 'patient's couch' and leaned back, crossing her legs at the thigh. She steepled her hands upon her legs, her poise both proper and professional. "Is this better, Lieutenant?"
T’Mia nodded. “Much, Thank you.” She smiled warmly. “I take it you’re quite the people person?”
"Obviously not," quipped Liza before she could catch herself. That had been more of a Kahn response. "I mean, with most people, yes. How can I not be with seven lifetimes under my belt, as both man and woman. Pretty exciting shit. And fun!" Her posture got more comfortable, Kahn showing he would not relent being who he was. Liza had had no choice, and really didn't mind either.
“Of course! You are a joined Trill.” T’Mia smiled warmly. “So what’s it like? Having the memories of prior hosts, as well as your own memories?”
"That is very personal between symbiont and host," instructed Liza. "But, I see the meaning behind what you're asking. You are generalizing. In that case I can say that at first it was confusing and overwhelming. Now, we're joined, and we know what we want from each other. A living conscience, as it were." She gave a grin.
T’Mia nodded. “A productive life for both of you to live in harmony, a most noble gesture on behalf of both of you. So tell me more about you.”
Kelliza got a faraway look in her eye for a moment, her expression showing some sadness. "I remember very little of who I was as a child. I now have 7 lifetimes of past swirling around in there." Her eyes focused again as she looked at the Counselor, giving a a shrug and a look of not knowing how to truly answer that. "Who I am...well..it's hard to explain. I'm a blender full of life experiences, each of which has formed me in some way as to who I am. That's the best way to say it. No shame, no vain and hard to embarrass. All of which make me a little party animal, seeking out the fun and exciting while still young enough to enjoy it."
T’Mia nodded. “I can’t even begin to understand what having so many lifetimes in one mind must be like. It sounds like you’re doing a wonderful job of co-existing together.”
Liza uncrossed her legs and sat forward, elbows on knees to look Rahl in the eye. "I am me, make no mistake." It was on a threatening posture, nor intimidating, it was more of an exhilaration. An excitement to explain something few could even begin to understand. "The past memories make me more of who I am, yes. But, Kelliza is still Kelliza. But now, there is Kahn, and his own personality and quirks are also reflected through me. However, as a joined Trill, I swore the oath to take full responsibility for any misbehavior brought on by the Symbiont." She gave a grin and sat back again, though far more casual.
“So do you have a problem with misbehaviour?” T’Mia looked at Kahn curiously.
"Depending on circumstances, no." Truth was truth, thought Liza. "People need to let off steam, especially those who choose to live travelling through space. The very nature of where we are is a hazard. That thrumming through the decks, that's the heartbeat of this ship. We lose that and life gets real complicated real fast. So, to offset this constant worry people need a distraction from time to time. My opinion, of course." She gave a grin.
“One that’s very true indeed” T’Mia nodded. “It’s easy to lose yourself when stuck in a daily routine onboard a starship. To have those distractions helps a lot.”
Liza gave a truly happy, wide smile. "See? If we can help everyone understand that then maybe we can end war and suffering. Like the hug you caught me in. I know Perico, he looked deep in thought and looked to dive deeper into shadow. So, my bouncy ass cast some light his way. Spotlighting him. Letting him know that he was singled out for friendship." She did a little exploding upwards motion with both hands, like a fireworks bloom from the fingers. "Poof, positive energy transferred. That small interplay could possibly make his day that much better."
T’Mia nodded and smiled. “You have a wonderful outlook on life, caring for others they way you do is commendable.”
"Thanks," answered Liza. I've been men and women, I've loved thousands of beings on hundreds of planets, travelled the stars to see new things, all of that. Six generations of memories are in my head, and that tends to make me a very frank, forward and brutally honest being." She motioned at herself. "A young woman at the beginning of her life, with the wisdom and experience of generations past. I dig it." Another smile.
T’Mia smiled. “To be honest I can’t imagine how that must feel. It must be incredible having all those lifetimes to draw upon.”
"It can be trying at times, but that's what makes it interesting." Liza glanced at the chronometer. "That's about all I have to say in regards to who I am. Like everyone else I have my good days and bad days."
“Now that I understand” T’Mari grinned. “Thank you for giving me an insight into joined Trill life. I am happy with your evaluation so you’re free to return to your duties.”
"Thank you, Counselor." Kelliza stood up with a grin. "You have a good day." That said Kahn then turned and walked out, her next destination being Nira's jungle infused quarters.
Watching her go T’Mari smiled. She had a feeling Kelliza was going to be an interesting person to be around.
