Mission: Mission Guardian Shield
Location: Hurd Quarters
Timeline: Current

Hurd had been tossing turning all night. His dreams had been horrible, seeing all the men and women he had lost, all of asking "Why, why didn't you save us."
He, after seeing all these horror, Hurd shot bolt upright in bed, shaking screaming, and covered in sweat repeating over and over between screams, "My Men, dear God, why!!!."

Christina has been sleeping until her husband woke her with his cries, sitting up she gently wrapped her arms around him offering gentle solace from his nightmares. “It’s alright my love, I’m here.”

Breathing heavily, Hurd said, tears streaming down his face, "I've lost so many good people, so many faces forever burned into my memories forever." Sobbing he added, "I hate myself for even having one of my Marines wounded, much less killed".

“No one likes to lose those under their command my love” Chrissy reached for some tissues passing David the box. “Have you spoken to Counsellor Raymond? She’s here to help.”

Jumping out of bed before he grabbed the tissues, he said, with a mix of sadness, exasperation, and anger, "I have seen, seen dammit, my men shot, stabbed, blown up, and a lot more". As the tears began to flow harder, he said, "I have held them while they died, felt the breath as it left them, heard their screams of pain, them begging for their moms, for me to save them, and I couldn't". Collapsing to the floor in a emotional wreck he added, "I will never again see a counselor".

“Then what are you going to do!?” Christina looked at her husband with tears in her eyes. “I can listen, I can talk with you, but I’m no Counsellor! I love you and I don’t like seeing you like this!”

"And I don't like being like this", David replied. "If anyone found out about this I'd be relieved of my command" He sobbed.

“If you don’t speak to anyone this could get a whole lot worse” Christina offered a gentle smile. “What you say to a Counsellor stays with a Counsellor. Give it a try, please!”

"I'll try", Hurd sobbed. "That's all I can do is try", he said, closing his eyes, the sounds and sights of the screaming and dying coming back to him.

“If you can’t then you can tell me, I’m a trained Counsellor you know!” Christina offered a smile.

"I know Hun". Clearing the tears from his eyes he said, "Most people have no idea what'its like to Command and loose Marines, Good Men And Women, in Battle, but I think you do, and I'm eternally grateful to have you both as my wife and confidant."

Christina smiled and nodded. “I’ll always be here for you Imzadi, no matter what!” She wiped away a tear that ran down his cheek.
