At long last James " Jay " Bird had made full circle to get his mental eval. The meeting with Marine Major Hurd had helped his morale but officially he would have to see the ships shrink.
Tapping the chime he awaited for permission to come in lest another be in session before him.
Hearing the chime T’Mari answered the door with a smile. “You must be Lieutenant Bird. Please come in.”
"Thank you. Do you say that because I am the only Cherokee man aboard or because only I can be the legend you have heard of?" Jay sort of flirted.
T’Mari smiled warmly. “Actually I was going from my appointment schedule, but as you said you are the only Cherokee onboard.”
" Well what you do is ask me questions about my Mother, my job and if I have dreams of killing myself. I'll answer and then you can sign off Counselor." Jay replied.
“Ohh really?” T’Mia smiled. “Are you an expert on psych evals Commander?” She motioned to a seat. “I see you’re new onboard just like me, how are you settling in?”
" Not well I don't make friends to well. Nobody gets my jokes. I was assigned to the Admiral as a baby sitter. Hoped he would be someone who at least snuck off once...this dude is so boring a Pakled could watch him safely . I took the XO role to at least get my blood pressure up." Jay replied. " You must have found your dream job? A ship full of crazy humanoids ."
T’Mari smiled. “It’s not so bad, besides I don’t think they’re crazy. If they were we’d be at the psychiatric hospital instead.”
" The universe is a mind game Counselor and each must play our parts. I am an Infiltration Specialist, you're a counselor. I assume your Betazoid with Vulcan traits? You want to be logical but your Betazoid nature often betrays you? How did I do assessing you?" Bird asked T'Mari.
“As an infiltration specialist you study your prey, learn everything about them. Much like a Counsellor does.” T’Mari smiled warmly. “You were exactly right by the way. I am half Betazoid, as well as Vulcan. I chose not to purge my emotions.”
" Which emotion is your favorite? " Jay asked.
“My favourite?” T’Mia paused. “I’d have to say love, followed closely by happiness. What about you?”
" Honor, love and family in that order." Jay replied.
T’Mia smiled. “Honour and family are two very important choices.”
" No love for the Counselor. That must be the Vulcan in you." Jay replied. He then moved from sitting to laying down on the couch.
" Let's explore why you don't value Love Counselor." Jay asked
“I already said love when you asked me remember?” T’Mia smiled. “So what kind of woman do you find appealing?”
" Observant..I like that in a woman. Brave, a good cook, hot under the covers, easy on the eyes. My misses is all that but we are on different ships. My wife is a nurse on the Methodist, a medical courier."
He said checking T'Mia out for a reaction.
" Did I mention we are separated separated too. Our careers sent us in different directions and apparently I am an arrogant POS."
T’Mia gave no outward reaction, keeping her Vulcan cool. Her Betazoid half was starting to like him. “Ahh I see, I’m sorry to hear that. Relationship break ups can be difficult.” She offered a smile then looked at him curiously. “So a woman whose hot under the covers huh?” She grinned. “I’m guessing you’ve never met a Betazoid woman in her prime, although they do say we’re not our prime until we’re over 40!” She grinned this evaluation was getting well and truly off the usual track.
" Don't get so hot for me lady I am bad news times infinity. Just ask your questions I'll play nice and get out of your hair." Jay replied. Inwardly he was aroused the moment he entered but he had been faithful through all the deployments but couldn't say the same for Misty.
T’Mia blushed losing her cool a little. “Did I say I had the err... hots for you Commander?” Her eyes rested firmly on him awaiting an answer.
" Nah but you do. I know I eyed you up and down too. Does Vulcan nectar taste like...chicken?" he flirted. Quickly standing up due to his uniform malfunction.
T’Mia watched him stand doing her best to keep her professionalism intact, but she was rapidly losing it. “I have no idea, I guess that’s something you’d have to find out.” She grinned a wry grin.
" Well did I pass inspection Lt Counselor T'Mia Rahl?" Jay then asked.
“Pass inspection? I haven’t even had chance to ask any of my usual questions” T’Mia smiled. “I may need a closer inspection.”
Jay paused and then sat down again
" Have at it." he smiled .
T’Mia nodded. “We’ve gauged what kind of personality you are. How about your professional side? How do you get along with those you have to work closely with?”
" I protect my people from the wolf. There are three kinds of people sheep, sheep dogs and wolves. I am a sheep dog I protect the sheep from the wolf " Jay replied to her question.
“A good inallegy if I ever heard one” T’Mia smiled.
“Final question, as XO how would you cope with sending possible crew members to their deaths?” She knew it was a horrible question but it had to be asked as it was always a possibility.
" Each of us are trained and sign an oath. Even the environmental services know their role. I have lost peers but always tried to look for other options." Jay replied.
T’Mia nodded. “Thank you Commander. I’m happy to let you go at that, welcome aboard Sir.”
" Great, so where do you take your meals? So I know where to be?" Jay said heading to the door.
T’Mia smiled a wry smile. “Normally in my quarters.” She left it at that.
" Well damn don't be surprised if I show up hungry. I still haven't found my quarters. Maybe we could be room mates ?" Jay snickered. " Uwodohi in Cherokee it means Beautiful."
T’Mia giggled. “Be careful what you wish for Commander!” She gave him a playful wink.
