Having gone over the psych evaluation records, T’Mia was surprised to see she still had a few people onboard who hadn’t yet had an evaluation. Picking up a PADD off her desk she tapped her comm badge. =^= Rahl to Jackson please report to the Counselling offices, thank you. =^=
Greg took the time to log of the computer he was typing at, =^=Of course Counselor.=^=. Standing up from his desk he made his way up to the Counselling office before pressing the admittance chime.
T’Mia looked towards the door “Come in”
Greg entered the office giving the Counselor a nod of his head, “You wanted to see me?”
Smiling politely T’Mia motioned Jackson to enter. “Thank you for coming Lieutenant, please make yourself at home. Feel free to use the replicator if you’d like.”
Moving to the replicator Greg got a cup of coffee, “Do you want anything?”
T’Mia smiled warmly, “Please... A Pepsi would go down a treat right now thank you.”
Greg raised an eye at the odd choice for a nonhuman before punching in the order and returning to the desk placing the Pepsi where she could reach it, “I assume this is the part where you make sure I haven’t snapped completely and utterly,” he asked taking a seat.
“I see no reason to worry as yet!” T’Mia offered a smile. “Thank you by the way.” She picked up her drink and took a sip. “So tell me about you, what made you want to be aboard a Starship?”
“This is actually my first deployment with the Fleet Marines,” Greg replied leaning back in his seat and taking a sip of coffee, “I’ve spent 15 years with different planetary assault units before a year long stint overseeing a training platoon. Until the Amandora, no offense, but starships where viewed as nothing more then the taxi to get me to the next duty station or combat operation. If you’re asking why I joined the Corps,” he gave a shrug of his shoulders, “I wasn’t a good student in my school years only way to see the galaxy was joining the Marines.”
“Fair enough” T’Mia smiled. “So question is do you enjoy being part of the marine corps?”
“I do, their are times I miss the carefree days of being an NCO, and to be perfectly honest Major Hurd is enough to try the patience of a saint, but overall my time in the Corps has been good to me, sometimes pure terror but overall decent,” Greg said after a brief pause to organize his thoughts, “What about you, happy to be in a starship?”
T’Mia smiled and nodded. “Actually yes, it’s all part of the bigger adventure. I want to be out there not on a planet away from it all.”
Greg laughed briefly, “I think we’ve spent time on different planets then. A few have been rather more of an adventure and in the middle of things then I could have wanted.”
T’Mia smiled. “I can imagine! Don’t get me wrong being Planetside has so many opportunities but it’s not being in space. Out amongst the stars, that’s what I love.”
Greg nodded his head, “I can see that, lots of recruits join up to see the stars. I’m sure the Academy is the same.”
“Indeed” T’Mia nodded. “So tell me, how do you cope with the stress of being a marine? How do you let loose after a difficult assignment?”
“Somehow, I doubt I’m going to get away with the answer, I don’t let it bother me and move on,” Greg replied rising an eyebrow.
T’Mia gave Greg a thoughtful look. “Do you honestly?”
Greg sighed, “A couple of times a year on the anniversary of a stressful or particularly bloody mission I go and tie one on. Sometimes with others who went thru the same hell other times by myself remembering those that where lost and then trying to forget and move on.”
T’Mia nodded. “Now that’s more like it, it’s good to meet up with others and find solace in good memories of those lost or of situations you might not have come back from. To let off steam and emotional baggage.”
“1st time I’ve had a Counselor tell me drinking myself stupid wasn’t a bad idea,” Greg replied with a laugh as he studied T’Mia.
“Not all the time!” T’Mia grinned. “But every now and again a blow out can be beneficial. I know it helps me to let loose every now and again.”
“What’s your poison of choice,” Greg asked leaning back in his seat as he continued to drink his coffee.
“Well... I’m not that big on alcoholic drinks, my Betazoid half can’t handle them!” T’Mia grinned. “I’ll admit I’ve tried Romulan ale before. I prefer a Coke, or Pepsi any other time.”
“Didn’t know a Betazoid couldn’t drink, then again not many sign up for Marine Corps,” Greg said with a tilt of his head, “I don’t know if any Starfleet Officer that hasn’t at least tried Romulan Ale. Except for the fact that it’s illegal never got the joy of it myself.” He took another drink of his coffee, “Kind of like Bloodwine I think it’s more a prestige thing then people drink it for fun.”
“That’s true. It maybe just me where drinking is concerned, it goes to my head!” She grinned. “Anyway I’m getting completely off course with your evaluation aren’t I? Although I think I’m happy that you’re sane, level headed and able to cope.”
“Would rather talk to an attractive woman about herself, rather then her listen to me ramble on about myself,” Greg replied with a smile.
T’Mia couldn’t help but blush. “Thank you for the compliment.”
“You’re welcome ma’am,” Greg said with a wink, “Anything else we need to talk about?”
“I think we’re good for now” T’Mia smiled. “If I think of anything else I’ll be in touch.”
“Sounds good,” Greg said standing up from the chair and placing his empty coffee cup on the desk, “When I get back from the planet I’ll buy you a Pepsi at Ten Forward if you want?”
T’Mia smiled the biggest smile yet. “I think I’d like that.”
Greg nodded his head and answered with a smile, “It’s a date then.” With one last wave and a smile he exited the room to return to his quarters and finish getting ready for deployment.
