# 64 The Old World Ways

James Bird was dauntless as he entered the shuttle bay to escort the visiting Ambassador up to deck 4 or was it 5 . He was confident enough he would be able to greet the elder Ambassador with respect but his inner guard wandered .

Two elder guards accompanied the Ambasssdor Keelflex who did not seem all excited about being here

" Welcome Ambassador to the Amandora. I sm First Officer Bird you liason tonight."

" So I don't merit the Commodore. Figures, well sit down here and we will talk." the old chap replied.

Jay joined the man and sat down noticing a bottle on his side table. Clearly this was a post Federation ship as it sported no modern pleasantry.

" Care for a drink Commander?" Keelflex offered.
" No thank you. Liquor and me don't play well together. Someone usually gets hurt when I drink." Jay replied.

The old man chuckled at Jays words.
" A formal party is about to start shall we go?" Jay tried to lure.

" Commander do you know why I am an Ambassador? Because I have out lived more leaders than anybody else. They are afraid of me in the Capital because I represent a now minority of honest folks who don't won't change. This new group have all of these new fangled plans. They even have the Federation believing their plans are for the people. What they don't know is what the real people want. The real people want what they had in the old days a Queen. " old Keelflex replied.

Jay just listened.

" In my day we had a Queen of royalty and beauty. A parliamentary system that advised her. Lords and ladies and knights. Today they have beautician's." Keelflex grumbled

" Sometimes change is good. The Federation honors all traditions." Jay tried to inspire.

" Aaah they sent me a spokes man. Well spokesman let's go to the bathroom then to your party. This big old ship probably has a hundred bathrooms on it." Keelflex replied.

A slow walk to a lavatory followed there after.
