Location: Planet’s Surface

{ON}

Having transported to the surface outside the boundary of the village she was to infiltrate, T’Mia couldn’t help but notice just how accurate the report on planetary conditions was, saying it was harsh was an understatement! Even though she was half Vulcan T’Mia was already feeling the effects of the heat, she had no doubt those unused to arid conditions would feel it even more.

She found a hidden shady spot a little closer to the village and settled down to watch the comings and goings, she needed to know just what the usual routine of the people here was. She remained for a couple of hours simply watching the villagers, and the Jen’Hadar as they went about their business patrolling the village.

“What are you doing there!?” A voice from the brush behind her mind her jump. “Answer me woman! Why are you sitting here!?”

She looked around to see a lone Jem’Hadar, unfortunately he was armed, and she couldn’t afford any trouble. “I...was sheltering from the sun! It’s so hot today.”

“No hotter than usual” He motioned for her to stand. “I don’t recognise your face, who are you?”

Standing up and moving forward T’Mia turned to face the Jen’Hadar warrior. “I am Siyara Marin, I...”

“She’s my sister’s girl” A Cardassian woman emerged from the village. “She’s from the east encampment. My sister sent her to help me, so unless you want your food late you’d bes let us get on.”

The guard grumbled and gave T’Mia a shove. “Go! Next time don’t get slacking off!!” With that he headed on his way.

“Thank you” T’Mia offered the woman a thankful smile.

“You can Thank me later, when you tell me just who you are, and where you’re from.” She motioned T’Mia to follow her to the village. “Stick with me, and do what I do. If you step out of line round here you’ll end up regretting it.”

Following on T’Mia took in the sites and sounds as she walked through the village, dismayed to see two women chained up in the centre of the village in all the heat, they looked sunburnt and extremely thirsty.

“Punishment for not doing as they’re told. The Jen’Hadar around here don’t mess about. They’ll be lucky if they survive...”

T’Mia was starting to realise just how harsh life was for the people in the village. Though they seemed to be living their lives freely enough, it was obvious they lived to serve the Jem’Hadar.

“I guess no one has ever tried fighting for their freedom?”

The woman pointed to a place off in the distance. “Why don’t you try asking all the poor souls in that graveyard, they tried and died for their precious freedom!”

T’Mia nodded. The sooner she had a chance to gain trust, and get people out of the village and back to the ship, the better off they’d all be. For now she needed to fit in, if it meant working as a villager then that was what she would do.
