Mission: The Restroffs (Space Spiders)
Location: Cargo Bay Transporter
Timeline: Concurrent to Post 21

Lt Kordell quickly joined Lt Herculoid down in the cargo bay to be nearby when the arachnid was revived.

" Lieutenant stasis fields in place." he told Tara.

"I don't want to take chances that thing can escape. increase it to level ten. Phasers on heavy stun. Once that is done revive it," Tara said picking up her tr-coder as she walked closer to the force field and began to run her scans on the spider.

" Lieutenant field at maximum. Engineering has diverted as much power to us as they can." Kordell replied. " Shall I rematerialize it?"

Tara nodded "Re-materialize it and I hope the field holds as the warp core has been shut down. Let's see what we're dealing with."

Kordell nodded and then the spider re-materialized. Contained by the stasis field the arachnid shuddered.

"Damn that thing is big," Tara said A she ran her scans on it. Turning to look at the other two officers "That thing is pregnant, it's about to give birth and from what I can tell it's going to have about two hundred babies."

Kordell scowled as he tapped his phaser rifle again.

" We captured it in the upper pylon." he told her.

"Then you better get in touch with the acting chief engineer and make sure there is not any kind of webbing in there. But this spider has not given birth for sometime. I'd say at least a month of so," Tara said as she scanned the spider again "She'll give birth in the next two hours and I'm not sure how big the babies will be. I can only hope the field will hold her and two hundred or so babies."

" Security to the Cargo bay STAT." Kordell yelled. He was prepared with his phaser rifle but having a marine detachment with better fire power was very preferable.

Tara looked at Kordell "Toss me your phaser just in case."

Complying he tossed her the rifle and pulled out his dak'tagh just as two marines joined them.

Tara aimed the rifle at the field and looked at the marines who had joined them "They break out of there phasers on wide beam stun. We can't kill them but I don't want them loose on the ship."

" Aye aye Lieutenant," Kordell replied.

It took everything Tara had in her not to back away from the containment field as baby spiders began to emerge from the mother. Taking careful aim after setting the rifle to wide beam stun they all watched the the containment field filled with hundreds of baby spiders.
