Post Number 8 Temporary Marine Command
Posted on Wed Jun 22nd, 2022 @ 8:07pm by Commodore Cyndi Song & Captain Tracey West Jr
Mission:
A Patrol and Supply mission
Location: Ready Room
ON:
Cyndi after reading Silk's report on Major Hurd, and with First Lieutenant Jackson off the ship for training that left her with a big problem. Drumming her fingers on her desk for a few minutes Cyndi had an idea. She'd already thrust Commander O'Connell into command and the marines needed someone to take charge.
Tapping her com-badge "Lieutenant West this is the commodore can you please report to my ready room?"
West tapped his comm badge. "Right away sir," he replied with alacrity.
Moments later, he stood before his Captain. "You wanted to see me, Sir?"
"I do lieutenant, please have a seat. Major Hurd is in sick bay, blacked out during the boarding of the ship with the Romulans and Lieutenant Jackson is off the ship for more training. That leaves me with no one to take command of the marines. Are you willing to take it until one or both of them are able to command them again?" Cyndi asked
West considered that for a moment, but not for long. Duty was duty and although he wasn't sure he was the best man for the job, he wouldn't be the worst one either.
"Yes Captain, if that's what the ship needs, I'll do it."
Trace had never been ambitious...he'd served for years as an enlisted man, happy to take advancement when the time was right, but never seeking it. He had only become an officer because he had lost his own Commander, and the man had told him he could better serve the marines in that capacity. He wasn't necessarily convinced of that, but time would tell.
"Thank you lieutenant, I knew I could count on you. I have no idea how long this will be for," Cyndi commented "I also don't know what shape the marines are in so do what you have to do."
The shape the Marines were in? They were Marines, they were always in good shape, West thought, but what he said was "Aye Sir."
"I think that takes care of what I need from you. Thank you again for stepping up," Cyndi said
