Commander O'Connell was making his way to the Security/Tactical Office to start in his new role as Chief thanks to the Command Team. Jamie also informed his Staff of a meeting this morning and everyone would be present except for his Assistant who he had already met with the day before so someone from Security would be on the Bridge.

Walking into the Security Room Jamie counted about thirty people which was a lot more than was on his previous Ship. Suddenly it became real quiet as all eyes were on him wondering who this guy was.

"Good morning, for those of you who don't know who I am....I'm Commander Jamie O'Connell your new Security/Tactical Chief" he stated with a smile "Just to give you a little background, on my previous assignment I was the Chief Engineer for about a year and was promoted to Executive Officer for the next six years until my transfer here. Also when the situation calls for it, I'm also Second Officer on the Command Staff. So you see I'm not some guy 'wet behind the ears'" which got a chuckle out of his crew.

Then one of the guys raised his hand "Yes Crewman, you have a question." "Yes Commander, are you going to start changing a bunch of things in Security?"

"No....at least not now. After I've been here for awhile I may tweak a few things but probably nothing major" Jamie replied which seem to satisfy everyone.

The Commander was going over shift rosters trying to maybe put people where they would be most comfortable with their time slots when he noticed two Crewman in the back talking. Jamie became silent as he walked over to them and just stood there for a few moments. Then the two realized they were the only ones talking as Jamie said "Crewman would you care to share your conversation with the rest of the group since clearly yours is far more important than mine is" he commented as he could feel his Irish temper starting to surface.

The one Crewman looked at Jamie and swallowed hard as Jamie stood towering over him "No Sir...I mean I'm sorry Sir....It won't happen again Commander" he replied being a little red in the face at the moment.

"Thank you....I'd appreciate it" the Commander responded "Now where was I" as Jamie continued with his thoughts and now all eyes were on him.

After Jamie had gone over everything "Any questions" he asked as he looked around the room but no one raised their hand. "One last thing....my Office door is always open to you folks so if you do have a question or a concern....then please by all means don't be afraid to ask. I look forward to working with each of you. Dismissed." Then his Staff each went their own way as he walked into his Office to go over some things.

The first order of business was to check Ship's security protocols for certain areas of the Ship. Jamie was not happy the Romulans were able to beam aboard which caused Kelliza her life and could have been curtains for her Symbiont.

Checking security Jamie realized that most of the Ship was set at level four security which was fine for most areas but not for others. He decided to change a few critical areas from level four to level two. This would greatly enhance the security without going to level one which asks for security codes constantly which he didn't feel the Commodore would approve of.

"Computer change the following areas from level four security to level two as follows: Main Bridge, Commodore's Quarters, Ready Room, and Personal Dining Room" came the request.

"Security code needed to complete changes" the Computer stated.

The Commander let out a sigh "Commander O'Connell, Jamie, Riley, security code Alpha, Delta, 1, 9, 7, 2, Gamma" came the reply.

The following areas have been upgraded from level four to level two as follows: Main Bridge, Commodore's Quarters, Ready Room, and Personal Dining Room" the Computer announced.

Jamie felt much better now that some critical areas had their security upgraded; even though the Commodore didn't like guards around at least this way she should be much safer which was a concern to the Commander. Now he would send a report to inform Command of the changes.

After the incident with the Romulans, it has come to my attention that certain areas of the Ship needed a Security protocol upgrade. Therefore the following areas have been upgraded from a level four to a level two which should enhance security greatly without being a nuisance to the everyday routine.

The following areas have received an upgrade as follows:

Main Bridge, Commodore's Quarters, Ready Room, and Personal Dining Room.

Commander sent off the message hoping that Command would see the value of the upgrade which, in his opinion was needed for everyone's sake.

After going over some reports, and clearing the backlog, Jamie knew it was getting late and decided to call it a day. Now he would return to their Quarters and see the lovely Mrs. O'Connell.
