{Deck 3 - Quarters}

After being very busy the past few of months, Nix finally had some down time and realized she never did have that drink with Kira. Now was the chance to make up for lost time as she tapped her Comm "Ensign Foreese this is Lieutenant JG Dunjen, I was wondering if you would like to meet me for snacks and some drinks this evening" she queried.

"Yes that would be nice....lets say about nineteen hundred in the Lounge" Kira replied being quite surprised to be hearing from Nix.

"Ok I'll meet you then, casual dress...let's be comfortable" Nix commented.

{Deck 10 - Lounge}

Nix arrived first at the Lounge and grabbed a table for two by a viewport then ordered a plate of various deep fried snacks as she waited for Kira. Nix wore a pair of jeans with a loose fitting top and canvas shoes being very comfortable; plus the Lounge wasn't overly busy which was nice.

Shortly Kira walked in and noticed Nix sitting by a window as she made her way over to her. Kira had on a dark pair of pants, a nice top along with sandals. As she came closer "Hi Nix, don't you look comfortable" she commented with a smile.

"Hi Kira......you look nice" Nix replied with a smile of her own "What would you like to drink."

"Thanks Nix and I'll have a gin-seven-and lemon" she stated as she sat down.

Nix ordered Kira'a drink and a Brandy for herself. Soon the drinks arrived as the two sipped their adult beverages for a moment.

"I was surprised to hear from you" Kira commented "I thought you had forgotten all about our previous conversation."

Nix smiled as she set her drink down "Apologies Kira but I've been very busy with Ops lately" she explained "And I need to stay focused."

Kira smiled back "That's understandable....and I must admit I was a little concerned when I heard you had been captured by the Romulans" she stated.

Nix grinned "Ya that makes two of us. It was a choice between saving myself or saving the two prisoners that I set out to rescue" she explained "So I opted to save them first before myself."

"Well at least everything turned out ok. At least you've had some experience getting captured" Kira replied.

Nix had to chuckle "Actually that was the first time that I've been captured on an Op; but I was prepared. I had a weapon taped to the inside of my leg and managed to shove a couple Tech items between my breasts before I was captured" she explained.

Kira was very surprised to hear her explanation "So what did you do with the Tech and your weapon" she asked being quite interested in Nix's answer.

"I was able to free myself and make it out of the prison; but sadly I had to take a Romulan life to do so. At that point I really didn't have any other choice."

"Then what did you do" Kira found herself asking.

"I hid in a cave until Commander Green and 1st Lieutenant Rivers were able to get back to the Moon and rescue me" came the reply.

Kira looked at Nix for a few moments "I have to hand it to you, you're one brave lady" Kira commented.

Nix grinned "It was either that or die.....and I wasn't about to let the latter happen. Besides I have Dunjen to think about besides myself."

Kira had heard about the special bond between a Trill and their Symbiont; especially after what had happened to Kelliza a short time ago.

Then Kira asked "So did you get a chance to get down to the Planet at all."

"No I decided against it...It's much too warm with way too many bugs" Nix answered "Besides if I were to get bitten it may effect Dunjen and I really prefer not to take a hypospray just for the occasion if I don't have to."

The two friends sat and chatted for quite some time while polishing off the snacks and having a few more drinks as well.

Then Kira asked "Nix, I see we have a new Infiltration Specialist on board. How's she doing."

"Good, her name is Heather Devroe...well actually O'Connell. She's married to the new Second Officer...Commander O'Connell. Heather's a Master at several Martial Arts and is very good with weapons also. Matter of fact we sparred for a bit and no matter what style I threw at her she was able to counter. The whole time neither one of us was able to land a single hit on the other" Nix explained "The only thing we need to work on is bringing her up to speed on some of the Tech."

"Heather sounds impressive and I'm sure you can use the extra help as well" Kira commented.

"That's for sure....not all Ops are solo....sometimes having an extra person can make the difference between success and failure" Nix answered.

"So how do you think she'll be to work with" Kira queried.

"I think Heather will work out just fine. We both hold the same rank but she told me she would follow my lead since I have more experience than herself.....which will make things much easier."

"Well sounds like you have things all under control" Kira commented as the two continued to chat for a couple more hours.

Nix realized it was getting late "I should be going, I'm meeting with Heather in the morning to go through some covert ops simulations in the Holo Deck" she stated with a smile "Would you care to walk back with me?"

Kira smiled "Yes, that would be nice" she replied. The ladies left the Lounge and continued chatting while walking back to their Quarters at a leisurely pace.

{Quarters}

They arrived at Kira's first "This is me" she commented with a smile "Thanks for a fun evening."

"My pleasure and it was fun just sitting and chatting" Nix replied then paused for a moment "We should do this again sometime soon....I would like to have a friend to hangout with."

"That sounds like a plan....I'd like someone to hangout with as well....besides most of the guys in Intelligence are idiots are aren't quite my thing" she replied with a smile "See you soon then."

"Yes" Nix replied with a smile of her own then turned to go back to her place.

On the way home she thought "Dunjen you very quiet this evening...you alright?" "Yes I just thought I'd let you have some fun for a change since you haven't done anything like this in a very long time" he replied "And by the way she is very nice and quite sweet."

"Yes she is old friend. I hope to have a good friend in Kira" Nix replied feeling pretty good about the evening.
