Mission:
A Patrol and Supply mission
Location: Amandora
Timeline: Current

{Security/Tactical}
Commander O'Connell was in the Security/Tactical Area going through all the weapons making sure they were all up to Federation Specs.
After checking all the hand phasers, both types one and two, Jamie was satisfied with what he saw. The last thing that he wanted was a weapon to fail during a critical moment.
Now it was time to move onto the phaser rifles. These were a little more complex in their design and operation. Jamie went through them one by one finding most of them up to Specs. There were two however that 'didn't make the muster', sort of speak.
After spending close to an hour trying to fix the problems, he just couldn't seem to figure it out. Perhaps it was his lack of experience since this was his first assignment as Chief of Security. Although he had the leadership part down pat, he may need some instruction on the more practical side. Jamie knew where he could find some help and a little education at the same time.
{Maine Country}
O'Connell grabbed the two rifles and headed for the Marine area; if anyone would know how to fix these things, then they would.
Walking in O'Connell noticed all eyes were on him. I guess Fleet wasn't in the habit of entering, what they considered, their domain. Seeing a Private "Excuse me Marine but who's in charge here" Jamie asked hoping for an answer.
"The acting C.O. is in his office over there" came the reply and pointing in the general direction.
"Thanks Marine" O'Connell answered then turned and made his way to the Office.
On arriving Jamie knocked on the door then the officer looked up and to his surprise he saw a familiar face "Trace how's it going?"
"Commander O'Connell," Trace said, recognition in his voice. "Nice to see you again." He stood, walked around his desk and shook Jaime's hand.
"I heard you were in charge of Security around here."
"Yes, that is besides being Second Officer. The reason for my visit I have two phaser rifles that I can't get up to specs for the life of me. I was wondering if you take a look at them for me" Jamie explained.
Trace grunted. "Lots of responsibility on your shoulders...nothing you can't handle, am I right?" He grinned and grabbed the type threes from Jaime and laid them out on his desk. With deft movements, he had them in pieces in moments and laid out just so. With a practiced eye, he looked over each of the components, picking one up, grunting, and placing it back in its position.
Jamie watched Trace carefully as he disassembled the weapons trying to learn as he watched.
“Looks like you have a slight blemish in the casing around the beam control assembly here.” He said, pointing at a what looked like a slight bend in the metal rim around the part. “Sometimes when they’re handled roughly, that can happen. Looks like whoever used these was fond of hitting things with the butt.”
"So can these be fixed or are recycle fodder?" he asked. Trace shrugged. "Nah, you just need to replicate another casing." He said, walking over to the replicator and typing in the command.
"Never trust a voice command on replicating a part for a finely crafted piece of engineering." He said, producing three beam control assembly rings. Just pop these in and you should be good to go."
Jaime grinned. "Thanks. And to answer your question....yes I can handle both since being Second Officer is only when Command needs an extra hand" then he grinned.
"Good to hear, Commander. You're a man I trust. Served with you, know I can count on you in a tight spot."
"Thanks 2nd Lieutenant.....and that goes both ways. I see your in command of the Marines once again....that seems to be a pattern with you" Jamie commented with a chuckle.
"Seems so." he sighed. "You know, I never wanted to command. Never even occurred to me to be honest...but it's hard to ignore the words of a dying man. I hope he was right about me."
"I'm sure he was.....either that or maybe Karma's trying to tell you something.....you know what they say about her" O'Connell answered with a grin.
"Yeah." He grinned. "I hear she's a bitch."
