Kirk/AKA: "Jim" & Chief Warrant Officer Niraasha "Nira" Whisperwind & Commodore Cyndi Song & Lieutenant Commander Kristian Long & Lieutenant Tara Herculoid PhD & Lieutenant James McTavish & Captain Alesha Rivers & Rear Admiral Paul Sanderson
Mission:
A Patrol and Supply mission
Location: Tython
Timeline: current
OOC: I've added who I thought MIGHT be there. If you prefer a certain PC to not be involved, let us know and we'll remove them. I just wanted to include those who were here and able to post. Thnx, Sean.
I added Alesha and Cyndi's husband since he's with her.
ON:
Kahn and Kirk approached the two tables along the lakeside that catered to a handful of Amandora crew. Zenni was glad that they were all together since it would save time having to say things twice. She knew everyone was enjoying a casual exploration and a bit of leave, but she felt that what she had detected needed to be voiced. "Hello, everyone," she said with a half grin. "It seems there is more to this colony than initially met the eye."
Green had approached from Zenni from behind, her acolyte glancing back over her shoulder a moment to catch the nod from her Master. Ro didn't say a word as she approached and stood next to Zenni, removing her cloak and draping it over a chair. It was warm in the sun, even if she could control her body temperature.
"Something is off," Kristian agreed "Things that should not be here are not."
"Paul and I spent several days in a cabin on the edge of a clearing with a pond full of fish. Some of the fish are native only to certain planets and yet they're here," Cyndi commented.
Kahn glanced at everyone a moment, confused. Fish that shouldn't be here? Okay, not what she had detected. And, 'things that should NOT be here are NOT' gave her pause, not knowing what that meant. For her part, with scans intact, Zenni continued. "My first scientist host, Tamar, was fascinated by the Iconian civilization and their technology. Kahn became obsessed with it, as well, wanting to delve deep into it so we, those not Iconian, could have a better understanding of what they once had built. So, therefore, that focus is within me. During basic scans of the plants here in the pavilion I detected Iconian tech. A minuscule amount but it is there nonetheless, all around this pavilion. I have no idea why it's here, or what purpose it serves. But, it begs the question: why are they using Iconian technology and where did it come from?"
Green now understood a tugging at the back of her mind, to explore more and to discover what was unknown. The Core had been trying to speak to her. "That is a serious threat, Cyndi. Iconian technology uses Omega particles and if the Amandora gets a whiff of just one single particle the computer will shut down all flight control and main power, locking Amandora in orbit until more Starfleet can arrive and free us from the Omega Directive."
A deep male voice came from outside the group, an English accent prevalent, even as the muscled man himself appeared. "That won't happen, Commander Green. The particles are contained and are safe and secure." Doctor Tore Bjorgo came to a stop a meter in front of Song and Long, and put him within the group, with the others around him.
Zenni knew who he was due to Liza's memories, but she herself didn't know the man so she remained quiet and let others speak first.
Kristian realized her error in her comment "Teaches me to speak in my native language when not on the ship. What I meant to say was things that should not be here are here. Doctor Bjorgo it's good to see you again."
"What brings you to this planet doctor? Not that we're all not glad to see you again," Cyndi commented
Kristian couldn't help but wonder if he was going to be returning to the ship and if so she'd be required to step aside as CMO.
A normally, when she's around a crowd, shy Heather spoke up "James and I have gathered all sorts of plants and fauna which has been beamed back to the Ship and secured in a force field" she explained then continued " As a Biologist, with my specialty in Botany, I will be analyzing all of the samples shortly and will look for Omega Particles in particular to see if they have transferred into the plant life. That may give us a clue if this has done the same to animal life as well."
Bjorgo nodded to the younger woman as she finished. "A wise precaution. There are odd things on this world because directly below our feet at about 200 meters is a complete Iconian facility, completely intact and abandoned, as far as we can tell. The Iconian gateway activated as the colonists began to activate consoles to see if they could hid nor hair of it all."
"That's not good," said Green. She knew who Bjorgo was now that his name had been mentioned.
"Depends on your point of view, Commander." Tore looked at her briefly, then his attention went back to Cyndi. "Commodore, I am here because I was asked to come and provide healthcare for the citizens, by Governor Jones himself. As you well know I have been on a leave of absence from Starfleet service. Currently, lieutenant, listed as LOA/inactive."
There was a squeal of absolute joy from outside the circle and when all heads turned to see who had made the sound Nira pushed through the group and leaped into Bjorgo's arms, looking like an octopus as she wrapped her arms and legs around him and hugged him tightly. She leaned back, still in his grasp, smiling. "Good to see you, Tore! Ready to bash on Saqqar again?" She giggled as they disconnected and she got back on her feet, backing up to become another of the gathered.
"Good to see you too, Nira. I see you lost the broken speech pattern." Bjorgo gave her a wink. "About bloody time."
Kahn had been thinking on many things, but her heart and mind had locked in on what this Tore had said. A complete Iconian complex right below them. She had to get access, whatever it took. She knew how to open the consoles and stop the crap that was happening but she needed to get to the primary control console. "This is not Federation space, People. We need to remember that. We have no say in what they do, or what they have. But, if they'll allow I would like to see this complex."
"That will be up to the mayor," Cyndi said as she turned to Heather "Lieutenant my shuttle is sitting on the landing pad, while Paul and I were relaxing I had it set to run scans on the planet. I've also collected many samples of soil, fauna, water and the like. I'll give you full access to my research and the codes needed to access my shuttle and the equipment on it. I've not had the chance to look over things as of yet."
Tara looked at her cousin and gave her a knowing look over what they'd discussed a few hours ago. "I'll gladly give Heather my samples and scans as well."
Heather looked at Cyndi " Thank you Commodore, I'll grab the samples and all your data" then looking over at Tara "And I may grab your as well. I can do a quick analysis here but I'll need to get everything back to my Lab to finish going over everything. It will give me a chance to try out some of that new equipment and I'll let you know as soon as I find out anything" she replied knowing she would be up to eyeballs in research and loving every minute of it.
"Doctor Bjorgo my background when I was active Starfleet and before my promotion to admiral was an engineer if you need me," Paul spoke up. He'd seen the exchange between Long and Herculoid and wondered what that was about.
"Assistance is always welcome, Paul, thank you." Bjorgo looked around at the group. "The facility is completely scan shielded. The only reason the colonists found it was they were tunneling for sewer and water systems. Since that day it has remained their biggest secret, and why they are going to announce to the galaxy that they are their own world government. They were hoping that you lot would help smooth that transition with the Federation and other governments."
Green kept up with the conversation. "As Starfleet it is our duty to aid them. First duty of all Starfleet personnel is diplomacy. You represent your government therefore you need to act accordingly. I have discussed this transition with Governor Lucas Jones since he found me to be trustworthy enough to confide in me." She did not mention that the Meji Order would now have their seat here. A planet they could come back to and reinvigorate themselves in the natural terrain and abundance of life. Governor Jones--Lucas, had promised her that they would have a place set aside, wherever they chose. Having Iconian tech here just added to the necessity for wise and logical oversite. Ro then looked to Tore. "Doctor Bjorgo, didn't you serve in Strategic Operations for Starfleet for a time?"
"Yes, Ma'am, I did. I'm still SIS."
"SIS," asked Kahn.
"Strategic Information Service," said Tore proudly, grinning. "Starfleet Intelligence is formidable and their infiltrators top notch. However, SIS has been doing the same thing since the beginning of the Federation, when we had few friends and a dire need for clandestine operations. It was designed after the British SAS, SEAL teams, and so on."
"Ah," is all Zenni said in answer.
Just as green went to speak their was a muffled rolling sound and Cosmo came zipping into the crowd as he avoided legs and feet. He stopped and looked up at Green, angling his 'head' piece up at her with his eye. He was bleeping, whistling and chirping excitedly, and seemingly non-stop.
Ro got down on one knee and looked at the little droid automaton she had built from scratch. "Really? A whole complex under the city, you say?" Green grinned and glanced up at the rest before addressing Cosmo again. "Your antenna is bent." He angled his head towards her and she popped it out, straightened it and then locked it back in its socket. "Where have you been to get your antenna bent?"
Cosmo rolled backwards, careful not to hit anyone, then angled his lens/eye once more towards a place where no one stood. His holographic projector produced a complete schematic of an unknown complex. He talked to Green in his own unique language. She was glad she spoke Binary as well as other languages, some of which weren't even in this galaxy.
Ro was still on her knee next to her droid, who she patted on his body. "Good job, Little Guy. That's what we were needing. Tie in with the McTavish folks there, and Zenni. I'm thinking that is the Iconian base." She stood up. "Cosmo, close it down until we're out of eyesight." He did so.
Kahn did not try to hide the excitement on her face. "I would love that. Maybe in all that data he absconded with is the control interface for the Iconian complex. We can't remotely do anything but it will give me some more data to work with."
Green could feel the excitement in her student. "Zenni, remain focused and alert. Don't rush. We can't afford mistakes here. If we unleash those Omega particles it will spell certain doom for this planet..."
Bjorgo finished for her. "...and this sector. Let's not forget that the Conni class Enterprise under Jim Kirk dealt with an Omega event that completely deadened the Lantaru Sector. No warp travel at all, ever, where the effects spread before the Enterprise figured out how to stop it before it consumed even more. There are colonies in Lantaru that take years to reach now. All because some scientist thought he had solved the destabilization issue. Once he started the process it took 0.003 seconds to collapse and begin expanding, annihilating the veil between subspace and space. The wave travels at warp speed, gaining acceleration as it goes. The last sensor scans from Enterprise showed it got to warp eight before they were able to stop it. To this day how they did it is classified."
Yep, Kahn remembered Tore and his Augment memory and mind. The man didn't sleep much, not needing to like Green. So, he spent his free time reading, researching and working.
Green decided to end this little roundabout. "Alright, we have schematics and samples. Heather, there are more samples on board the Nile, we will make sure those get beamed to the Amandora so you have them. If it gets out that this planet houses Iconian technology then we won't be the only ones interested in adding them to our government. Let's get things moving, folks. Carry on."
The group stayed close to each other but the meat of the conference had been stated. Now, with that all said and done it was time to decide how best to approach the situation with the colonists.
