A Patrol and Supply mission

After Green got everyone dispersed she noticed that Cyndi, Herculoid and Long were talking. She gave a light backhand to Bjorgo's left bicep. "Come on." She then led him over to the other women.
As the two officers approached the three ladies noticed their approach and stopped talking as Green came to a stop with Tore on her right. "Commodore, I have a request if you have a minute."
"I always have time, what can I do for you?" Cyndi asked
"Commodore we'll let you handle ship's business," Tara said as she moved to head off with her cousin.
Green saw Tara and Long turning to leave and held a finger up to Cyndi to giver her a moment. "Lieutenant Herculoid, please stay. You too, Doctor. Give me a minute and I'll explain." Ro then looked at Cyndi. "Commodore, I am requesting permission to depart for Earth as soon as possible. I've had some personal news in regards to a certain subject and the Federation Council has agreed to see me. I can't think this will take more than a week to accomplish, and I will hurry back if the Council allows." She stopped, feeling anxious like when she was a wet-behind-the-ears ensign.
Tara and Kristian stopped and walked back over puzzled as to what was going on.
"Permission granted commander, but we are a very long way from Earth," Cyndi replied "Won't you need longer than a week?"
Green blushed a bit, grinning knowingly. "Well, I do have this friend who can open portals. I have the Core, she has Eldritch Magick. And, Zenni has the Core, in case you didn't already know. But, I can take the Nile and do it that way too. So, yes, it may take longer than a week if I use conventional methods of travel."
"Your referring to Nira," Cyndi said "But yes your request is approved. Commander O'Connell can step up and take over as XO while you're away."
Ro smiled and wagged her eyebrows. "Nira would whoop my ass if I went to Earth without her. But, as I said, she is a means to a quick back and forth." Getting more serious Green then looked to Herculoid. "Tara, I noticed during the Romulan dinner that you were having issues. You despise them yet you were willing to set all that aside to bring peace. Am I wrong in reading it that way?"
Bjorgo looked Cyndi in the eye while Green queried Herculoid. He gave her a wink and grin, not wanting to be any further disruptive. Being the polite guy he was he then did the same to Long, all while Green and Herculoid were speaking. His form of comic relief and easing tensions.
"Yes the Romulan Empire and my people do have issues. While and I'm sure I speak for my cousin we were uncomfortable being that close to them. But in fairness to the ship we did put our personal feelings aside. That however does not mean we still have issues," Tara said
"Tara is right and yet had one of the Romulans been injured I would have treated them," Kristian responded 'There is no love lost between the Amazons and the Romulans."
Ro gave a nod to them both. "Cyndi, I think it's time we tested Tara elsewhere. If you agree then I would like to make Lieutenant Herculoid our Diplomatic Chief. That way she can get to work on easing tensions between Amzock and Romulus. Beyond that, it's a good learning experience. Stay in Science, but step down a rung, is all I'm saying, Tara."
Bjorgo's eyebrows had gone up when all that was said. "I can't agree more, Commodore. It's a good change that will allow Tara to experience other aspects of Starfleet."
"Yeah, what he said," chuckled Green, smiling at the three ladies.
"I don't have the authority to handle things between the Amazon's and the Romulans," Tara said "That lies with my parents. Wait you want me to step down as assistant science chief?"
"Tara as the next Queen of our world you do have that authority," Kristian reminded her
"And that cousin is on hold as long as I'm in Starfleet," Tara said.
Green's countenance got more serious. "And will remain so, so long as you serve. There is no place in Starfleet for royalty. All titles and responsibilities are null and void until you leave service." She continued, getting herself back in the zone. "You seem unhappy with sciences, so I figured a change of pace would suit you. If you prefer not to then so be it. Another thing, if you accept the position of Diplo Chief then you will negotiate with anyone the Commodore orders you to."
Tore noted Green's emotional content, sensing her irritation. "Bring it down, Commander. You brought it up so it needs to be discussed."
Green let out a breath as she pulled herself together. "You're right, of course. Apologies, Tara, I know it seems like I am demoting you in Science, but that is not the case. Just offering an alternative you may like."
"Tara I understand what it's like to stay as neutral as possible when it comes to our home planets. We're both in that position and like you my title is on hold. I'm happy where I am," Cyndi said "I'll tell you what, give this a try, you'll still be able to work in science, am I correct in that assumption commander?"
"And Tara if there is a chance for peace between our two worlds it could start with you. Your parents I'm sure will agree," Kristian replied "It was not long ago you were considering leaving the ship and possibly going to Earth to teach. Your a damned good scientist."
Green stepped forward and took Tara's hands in hers. "Apologies for my...grumpiness. I want to aid your people in healing this long drawn-out hatred. If the Bajorans can talk to Cardassians again after their occupation then I think other worlds can to." She let the hands go and stepped back. "If you're going to be queen then, at some point, learning diplomacy is a must."
Bjorgo chuckled and looked at Tara with a smile. "She's got you there. Can't be royalty without learning to be a royal pain in the ass." Another chuckle.
"Tore?"
"Yes, Commander?" Tore responded, their faces showing they were just giving each other some snark.
"You're not helping," she smiled and looked over, putting a finger up to her lips. "Sshh." Ro then looked back to Tara. "You can keep both, if you choose. I do want you in either sciences, or bring that science knowledge over to the medical labs and work there. Chemistry, biology, they are sciences to, last I checked." She gave Herculoid a knowing grin.
"Oh I'm already a royal pain in the ass," Tara said "I see no reason why I can't do both. I'd like to remain in science as assistant chief but I am more than willing to work in the diplomatic area too. I'm not ready to be a Queen yet, but yes if there is a chance between my people and the Romulans then my cousin is right it has to start somewhere. Kristian often sends me things she needs looked at. And I have some things from away missions I've been going over."
"As an officer who can wear blue but never has," said Green. "I understand the love for it. I still read and keep up on all the medical advances around the UFP, and on other worlds. You're fine, then. And, with Zenni now Counselor I'm sure she would be glad to aid you when the diplomacy comes. As would others. You have a Bajoran in Diplo, and if anyone can share your feelings about hatred, I'm sure he can."
Green's eyes shifted to Long. "Kris, would you be okay with another doctor on staff?" She looked at Cyndi briefly. "Sorry, just had to get these things worked out. Not meaning to overstep, Sir."
"Your not overstepping, Kristian is doing a great job in Medical and I'm sure she'd welcome another doctor," Cyndi said
"I sure would, I'd love to work with Tore again" Kristian replied "As long as he can take orders from his one time assistant," she winked at Tore to let him know she was kidding.
Tore gave a toothy smile. "Orders? Eesh. How 'bout we call 'em...directives." He laughed lightly. "But, orders or directives, I have no issue with that. And, Commodore, if you wouldn't mind I would like to have a go at Mission Advisor. I am command trained and I keep my ear to the ground for information. Just want to throw my hat in, in case others seek that position."
"How about we call it consults," Kristian said
"I'm good with mission advisor," Cyndi replied "No one has asked for it."
"Thank you, Commodore," said Bjorgo before looking back to Long. "Consultation? Hmm. I didn't think of that word. Whatever we call it, I have your back, Kris."
Green had been simply standing and listening, a great portion of nervousness melting away. Doing all this without first consulting her CO had been brash and could have met with an ass chewing. But, since all seemed happy with the results Ro felt that her ass was safe from any abuse. "Doctor Bjorgo, go pack your shit and report to the ship, ASAP." Green tried to look serious but her eyes belied the mirthful intent. "Thanks, Cyndi, for not biting my head off while I played chess with your crew, positioning the pieces just right."
"You did what was best for the ship and Herculoid is to valuable to lose and if keeping her in science and having her work in diplomatic area will keep her on the ship I'm good with it," Cyndi said.
Rogue gave Song a somewhat shy look. After a moment she gave a sigh and stepped in, speaking as she did so. "Apologies, but I must." She gave Cyndi a hug, from the heart, squeezing the woman warmly and giving a quick rub to her back before stepping back a pace. "Thank you...for everything, Cyndi. I need to talk to Zenni, then find Nira, and then I will depart. All of you be safe while I'm gone, okay?"
"I'll keep them in line," Cyndi said "You be careful, I've already lost one XO and don't want to lose another one."
"Not on my to-do list, Cyndi, but I'll be careful." Said Green. "The reason for my trip is to establish a religion. An Order, if you will. I may come back...different. With a more serious focus on certain issues. But, I am 100% your XO and officer. To quote Ambassador Spock in regards to Kirk: I have been, and always shall be, yours."
"Damn," said Bjorgo. "I think you have a Riker on your hands, Miss Cyndi. Dedicated and loyal. A CO can't ask much more than that from their people."
"Riker was a damned fine XO, I never met him but his record speaks for itself and as far as Spock, he's a legend, If Ro is anything like Spock and Riker then I have one hell of a first officer. I have the best officers and crew in the fleet as far as I'm concerned. Ro do what you need to," Cyndi said.
Green gave a nod and smile. "I will. But, me and lavender girl have a date with the Federation Council. I thought of taking Zenni with me, since she is my first acolyte. But, her skills could come in handy with that Iconian complex, if you guys get inside. Give O'Connell my best and tell him to keep the chair warm for us both. Take care, guys." With that said Ro gave another nod to say goodbye and walked away, calling out for Nira as she went.
Bjorgo watched Green go before turning back to the others. "I will serve anytime, anywhere with that woman. A bit intense at times but her heart is in the right place, and plenty strong if my ears are correct listening to it beating while she stood next to me. I'm glad I came back and got to meet the new XO."
"I'm glad to have you back," Cyndi replied "We'll get inside, Herculoid has a minor in communications, Paul was an engineer so once we get in we'll be good. I'm glad to have Ro back, I owe her my life."
Tore reached out and patted Cyndi's upper arm in a friendly fashion. "Alright. Let me go gather my things and have them beamed to the ship. Once done we can look into this 'complex' situation." He grinned at his pun. "See you guys in about two hours? Meet back here?"
"Two hours it is," Cyndi agreed "We'll decide who goes in at that point. Paul I know will, I'd like Herculoid to go, everything is up for discussion."
"That it is." Replied Tore. "So, see you guys in a couple of hours." They all shook hands and hugged, everyone glad to see each other again. Once that was done they parted ways to get things prepared for the next step.
