{Deck 2 - Quarters}

Heather and Jamie returned home after a very delightful and tasty evening at Paul and Cyndi's. The Commodore made a delicious dinner along with an amazing tasting desert.

Jamie grabbed each of them a nice glass of Chateau Pickard Rose wine as they sat on the couch still rather full from dinner.

Heather sat beside Jamie when she commented "That certainly was quite the evening. Cyndi is a fantastic cook, I'm actually surprised that Paul is in such good shape the way that women cooks" then came a grin.

"Ya I know what you mean....I'd easily gain twenty pounds if I ate her cooking for very long" he replied with a chuckle.

Heather picked up the large box and pulled out the afghan and laid it on her lap feeling how nice it was "This is absolutely gorgeous and so soft.....I don't know how Mystery found time to make this, but I'm glad she did" she commented while feeling how nice it was."

Jamie felt of the afghan "Yes that is really nice....I guess Mystery is a women of many talents" he replied thinking back on his time as her XO.

Then Jamie grabbed the small box with the deed to the Cottage on Earth's Moon "Well it looks like we have ourselves a new home we can visit when we're in the area" he stated as something caught his eye.....in the bottom of the box was an envelope that he hadn't noticed before as he pulled it out and turned it over "Sweetheart, it's addressed to us."

"Open it" Heather said wondering what it was.

Jamie did just that then read the letter as follows:

To my dear friends,

By now you may or may not have heard that I'm thinking very seriously about leaving Star Fleet altogether and find another line of work. Loosing Command of the Independence and my crew family was not a pleasant experience.

I am currently back in my home on Risa trying to figure out my next move. That being said I no longer wished to keep my Cottage on Earth's Moon, and remembering how much the both of you enjoyed it there, I couldn't think of a more deserving couple to give it to. I hope you both enjoy it when you can for years to come.

In closing I just wanted you both to know that you are excellent Star Fleet Officers and it was a privilege to have served with you both. Best of luck in the future and I know you will both do well on the Amandora with my good friend Cyndi....she is a fine Commanding officer.

Jamie looked at Heather as she had a tear in her eye "Wow....that
letter was so touching......I'm going to miss her" she commented wiping the tear from her eye.

Jamie drew a deep breath "Yes and so will I.....she will always be a very special person to me" he replied being very solemn.

Heather could see the sadness in Jamie's eyes "We'll do fine here; I'm just happy we can both serve on the same ship and not be apart.....that would've been awful" she commented then Jamie a kiss.
