It had been a few days since Saunders had been aboard the USS Amandora. He was slow in getting around to meeting the Ships XO, Commander Will Raymond. He had heard from the crew he met, that the Commander was a well liked man. Saunders had wanted to make a good impression.

Rounding the corner in the hallway, he had just caught a glimpse of who looked to be the XO him self. The Commander looked to be arriving at his office his self. Good timing, or bad? Saunders thought.

Giving the XO time to enter his room and sit down, Damien paused a moment outside his doorway. A few other officers passing by. A female catching his eye, long hair and… Turning his attention back to the door, he chimed the door panel.

" Enter ! " Will said as he was busy with numerous XO related duties. " Come in Lieutenant."

"Sir, Lieutenant JG Saunders reporting for duty." He gave a relaxed but sharp salute.

" At ease Lieutenant. Welcome aboard by the way. Mr Clinton needed the help. I know I went down a few times myself."

"Sir, I understand you are busy," He could tell by the mans relative stress in his demeanor. "I just wanted to show my face and state that I will do my upmost best in serving you, and the Capt. of the Amandora."

" We know Mr Saunders. We are glad to have you." Will said.

He nodded. "Other than standing orders, is there anything in Engineering or the Amandora you would like to see, Sir?" It was usual for the ships engineer to relay information to the Engineering department of upcoming requests or changes to the ship for missions etc.

"The Amandora is a fine ship. I can't get over how spotless everything is run, Sir." Saunders complemented what he seen so far.

" Out of the factory new. Galaxy class 2 vessel. And you get to be its engineer. I am jealous. As a former pilot I almost applied for that job instead of XO." Will replied.

Damien blushed a bit on the inside as the officer stated he was a bit jealous in joke. “Sir. I would love the chance to work with a former Engineer like your self.” He smiled and chuckled. “You are welcome anytime down on the deck.”

Having had a brief introduction on a surprise visit to his office. Saunders then decided he had best not take up too much of the Commander’s time.

“Sir, I shall see you around.”

" Don't be a stranger Damien. We are professionals but we are also a ship family."
