Mission: Shore Leave On Starbase Mercury

{Amandora}

Once in orbit around Star Base Mercury, Jamie and Heather had decided to make the trip to Earth's Moon to check up on their new home which Mystery had so graciously given them.

{Deck 2 - Quarters}

With their duffels all packed for a couple of days Jamie looked at Heather "So you all set to go sweetheart" he asked with a smile. "Yes anytime you are" she replied looking forward to the trip.

{SB Mercury}

When the couple materialized on the Base, they made their way to Shuttle Bay #1 as Jamie approached the Desk "Ensign Good Morning, I'm Commander Jamie O'Connell.....I reserved a Shuttle for a trip to Earth's Moon for a couple of days" he explained in a very relaxed manner.

"Let me check Commander.....yes here it is....I assume you are Shuttle qualified" the Ensign asked with a grin figuring he must be.

"Yes Ensign I am....I was a Chief Engineer some time ago, so not only can I fly it I can also fix it if need be" he replied with a chuckle.

"Well let's hope that isn't necessary.....your Shuttle is over there...Bay #3" the Ensign replied with a grin.

Jamie nodded as he bent down and picked his duffel, since Heather had insisted on carrying her own, and they made their way to the Shuttle.

Once aboard they stowed their stuff as Jamie sat in the Pilot's seat and Heather next to him "Ok let's get the preflight check done" he stated as the couple went through the required routine.

"Star Base Mercury this is Shuttle #3 requesting permission to depart" Jamie stated waiting for an answer. After a few minutes came the reply "Sorry for the delay but we have a lot of traffic today, permission granted at heading 974.3.....once clear of the Base then you can plot in your course."

"Understood Mercury and thanks" Jamie responded as he heard "Safe travels and we'll see you in a couple of days."

After they were well clear of the Base Jamie laid in a course for Earth's Moon at Warp 4 then sat back in his seat. Looking at Heather "We'll be there in a few hours so I guess we just sit back and relax" he stated but still was keeping an eye on the scanners.

{Some Time Later}

As they approached the Moon Jamie went to one half impulse then got on the horn "Flight Control this is Star Fleet Shuttle #3.....permission to land at coordinates 7652.1" Jamie requested.

"Welcome to Earth's Moon Star Fleet...permission granted....so how long will you be here" Flight queried.

"We have a cottage here...it's the old Ellis house...we'll be here for two days" Jamie explained looking over at Heather with a smile.

"Enjoy your stay....your flight path is clear" came the reply.

"Thanks" Jamie said as he banked the Shuttle and plotted in the coordinates.

{Moon - Cottage}

After they landed Jamie secured the airlock when he noticed a smaller run-about docked at the other airlock "Looks like we have company" he stated as he grabbed his duffel. "I wonder who it could possibly be" Heather asked. "Well there's only one way to find out" he replied as the couple exited the Shuttle.

Once inside Jamie put down his duffel "Hello....anybody here" he said in a loud voice not knowing what to expect.

Moments later an elderly gentleman came in from the other room "You must be the O'Connells, allow me to introduce myself I'm O'Brian.....Ms. Ellis hired me as a caretaker a number of years ago to keep an eye on the place in her absence" he explained with a smile.

Heather and Jamie both relaxed as Jamie extended his hand "It's very nice to meet you O'Brian.....I was wondering if anyone looked after this place when no one as around."

O'Brian shook his hand "It's nice to meet you both....Ms.Ellis spoke very highly of you two. I've taken the liberty of leaving you a letter on the night stand with the arrangement that Ms. Ellis and I had previously, so if your agreeable to keeping me on just sign it and leave it there. I do check in on the place every so often."

Jamie smiled "We will read the letter over and leave it for you....just so you know we'll be here for two days. I'm not sure how often we'll visit here....I guess when we're in the area. Also I'll leave a way for you to get ahold of us should you need to" Jamie concluded.

"Very good Mr. O'Connell....now I'll get out of your hair. Oh and by the by, the place is fully stocked for your enjoyment" O'Brian commented then turned and left the Cottage.

"He seems like a nice elderly gentleman, I think we should keep him on" Heather said grabbing her duffel and starting for the bedroom with Jamie following.

"Yes I do too as long as his rates aren't over the moon" Jamie replied with a chuckle and Heather just gave him a look then grinned.

Once they were unpacked Heather followed Jamie out into the living area where they found a bottle of Chateau Picard Rose sitting on ice "I guess Mystery told O'Brian a lot about us" he stated with a grin as he uncorked the wine and poured each of them a glass.

When they sat on the couch Heather looked at Jamie "I still can't believe this is all ours" she said then sipped her wine.

"I can't either....but now we have a place to go and be totally alone and can kick back and relax" he commented then leaned in and gave Heather a rather nice kiss.
