Off:

Officially reducing the size of the marine detachment (temporarily).

On:

West sighed heavily as he read the orders from the Starfleet Marine Corps Force General. Due to ongoing planet based conflicts, large marine contingents were being recalled to Marine Commanded ships, signifying to West what seemed like an intentional shift in responsibilities.

Ultimately, he had two options: Stay aboard the Amandora and pursue his role as an officer in charge of a small platoon of Marines, or leave and serve as an officer in the Marine Corps. With Hurd out of commission for the time being, the decision was his, and the weight of it felt suffocating.

Still, he was never one to be incapacitated by decision, so he made one, choosing to stay in place and take command of the six or so men he would be allowed to keep.

With a heavy sigh, he forwarded the briefing to the Admiral, and went out to tell the men.
