#83 - You're Kidding

{Deck 2 - Quarters}

Jamie walked into their place, now that the Akira Ship was put to bed, really wanting a nice hot shower. He saw Heather sitting on the couch dressed in some rather comfortable looking clothes sipping a glass of wine "Hi sweetheart you look nice and comfy" he commented as he leaned down and gave her a nice kiss.

"I am and boy did that shower ever feel good" she replied with a grin "Do you want to sit a minute and I'll get you a drink?"

"Ah no....I need a nice hot shower first....I think I may be a little ripe at the moment" Jamie commented with a grin as he left for the shower.

Shortly he returned in some comfy clothes and grabbed an Irish whiskey from the replicator then sat next to Heather "You're not going to believe what I just heard. It appears that the McTavish's are no longer members of this Crew and have gone back to Earth to work for Star Fleet there" he stated being quite serious.

Heather looked at Jamie "You're kidding right?" she replied "I had no idea they were leaving did you?"

"No I didn't either, it must have been one hell of an opportunity for them to leave so fast" he reasoned then paused "Of course we were off the Ship for a few days so that must have been when all that transpired. Anyway I hear we have a new CSO on board....a women I think."

Heather looked at Jamie "I'm going to miss those two, they were really nice people; but I guess that's life in Star Fleet" she stated being a little sad at the news.

"I know what you mean I'm going to miss them too" Jamie replied "What say we go out for dinner, stop by the lounge on deck ten."

Heather thought for a moment "You know I think I'd like that" she replied so the couple changed into civilian attire and left their quarters.

{Deck 5 - Quarters}

Lieutenant Zolon left for deck ten wearing her fresh uniform thinking that maybe the crew on the Ship wasn't quite ready to see her in a frilly dress and hightop shoes just yet.

{Deck 10 - Lounge}

The O'Connell's waltzed into the Lounge and procured a meal each then sat at a table for four to enjoy their meal together.

They had no more than sat down when Jamie happened to look up and saw a face he hadn't seen before "Heather look up....that women with the tray is looking for a place to sit....I think she might be the new CSO" he commented.

"Oh ya, why don't I invite her to join us for dinner" Heather suggested as Jamie gave her a nod ok.

Heather rose from her seat and walked over to the women "Hi, excuse me...are you new here" she queried with a smile.

"Yes I'm the new CSO for the Ship" Cass replied returning the smile.

"Perhaps you would like to join my husband and I for dinner considering the Lounge is filling up quickly which happens sometimes" Heather explained.

Cass thought for a moment "I don't want to intrude or anything" she replied.

"Nonsense, we'd love to have you and it would give you a chance to meet someone and not feel alone.....I remember what that feels like" Heather commented. Cass gave a friendly nod as the two went back to the table.

When Jamie saw them coming over he stood "Hi, I'm Commander Jamie O'Connell and you are" he queried.

"I'm Lieutenant Cassandra Zolon the new CSO here" she stated as she set her tray down "But you can call me Cass if you like."

Cass I'm Lieutenant Heather Devroe-O'Connell nice to meet you and please have a seat" she said as all three sat.

As they were eating Cass asked "Commander so what is it you do on the Ship, if I my ask" although she already knew the answer but was making polite conversation.

"I'm the Second Officer and when I'm not doing that I'm Chief of Security/Tactical" he replied with a grin.

"That must keep you busy Commander and I gather you two are married then" Cass commented.

"Please call me Jamie since we're off duty and to answer your question yes Heather and I are married" he stated as he smiled at Heather.

"And I'm an Infiltration Specialist along with another women by the name of Lieutenant Nix Dunjen" she explained.

"So you both sound rather busy....so if you don't mind my asking how do you keep your marriage from getting stale" Cass queried.

Jamie looked to Heather "Oh we have our ways" he stated with a grin "but enough about us. Are you settled yet and how are you finding life on the ship."

"Well I came aboard right after the Amandora docked then found my quarters and put my things away and organized the place to my liking so I really haven't been aboard long enough to know yet" Cass explained then paused "But if everyone else on board are as nice as you two are then this should be a good assignment."

"Like everything else, you'll find most people are pretty nice but of course you'll run into the occasional stinker" Jamie replied with a chuckle.

"Any ship I've been on Jamie that certainly rings true" Cass replied with a big grin.

After their meal was over Cass wanted to get back to her quarters and get some rest "Thank you both for the dinner invitation and it was very nice to meet you. Since I have the next few days filled with meetings and introductions I probably should be going" she explained.

"Yes we understand perfectly and it was very nice to have met you also. If you should get lonely our quarters are on deck 2 so please stop by anytime" Heather commented with a smile.

"That's very gracious of you and I'll remember that" she said as she stood "Have a pleasant evening" then Cass turned and left the Lounge.

Heather turned to Jamie "She seems rather pleasant and nice" she commented "We should probably should be going too.

"Yes she seems very nice and somehow I think her and Nix would hit it off rather well" he replied with a grin.

"Possibly" she replied then grinned "By the way I seem to recall Commander that someone was going to show me how proud he was of me."

A big smile came across Jamie's face "It would be my pleasure Lieutenant" he replied then the two headed for home.
