Mission:
BUGS OH NO!!
Location: private lab
Timeline: current
ON:
Over the past couple of days Ainkara had gone to the various main labs/research areas, to do as instructed by her superior, Lieutenant Zolon. In each respective compartment she met with LT Armen Hunt, LTjg Nata, LTjg Lana Peck, and ENS Gin levoe. She had introduced herself, all of them knowing who she was by the daily missives sent out by both Herculoid and Zolon. They were all glad to meet her, very open minded and fair about her unorthodox way of entering Starfleet service. Most importantly, they all seemed supportive.
Having recalibrated the lateral sensor arrays, filing a report as to such, Ainkara was moving on as she casually walked down a corridor. Reaching her private lab, and rechecking to make sure she had nothing else on her daily agenda, Ainkara entered her security code to unlock the door and stepped within. The wall with the microscopes and nanotech work stations was still alight, still running algorithms she had set up last night as they came up with multiple variables for her to research to find a solution and a working prototype. With her new status as a cadet, Ainkara had decided to expand her catsuit uniforms by one. Now, she wore a white catsuit with a V-neck cut and the standard SCI department colored ribbons along her shoulders, her cadet rank pin prominently displayed where it should be on her chest, her combadge opposite that (new bio pic for added uni: AinkaraWhtUni).
Going to the row of bench stations Kara tapped a few keys at a central hub console, bringing up holographic screens with various programs still running, her eyes dancing around to each as she took in what each had to tell her. It pleased her to see that at least three pathways she had considered were showing promise. All the others were failures so she closed them down and saved the research data to her personal files, encoded as private. There may come a day when such data could prove useful, and until then, deleting such research would be a waste of material. If there was one good thing to come out of being a servant to the Iconians, it was the fact that they taught their servants that every molecule, every isotope, had a use. The Iconians had perfected the art of creating the Omega molecule and it was used in all their technology. Kara had read the history of Starfleet and had seen their foolish attempts at harnessing such power, to the detriment of the Lantaru Sector. That sector was now a spherical shaped, twenty light year across wasteland where light speed was impossible, as were subspace communications. Years to travel to colonies, years to speak to the same colonies, all due to arrogance and the want for power. When the scientist who had created his Omega molecule had lit it up it had taken 0.001 seconds to destabalize and begin to spread its subspace tearing effects across the cosmos. Had not the USS Enterprise under James T. Kirk been there, to set off a claoking device bomb of gravitons, then there was no telling just how far that Omega rupture would have spread. Hence, the Omega Directive enacted by Starfleet. Should a ship ever detect an Omega, then all power systems shut down and the main computer locks everyone out after alerting Starfleet Command of the situation, leaving the crew to sit and wait until others arrived to reboot everything, with only necessary life support systems still active.
Despite her respect for the humans aboard, Kara did note that they often times let their intellect outweight their instincts. If there is even a slight inkling that tragedy may occur, then such experiments should be delayed until further research could be conducted. But, being a short-lived species, their tendency was to rush, and their pride added to this as they were all trying so hard to be recognized for their brilliance. That recognition being so important as to cause them to go from hero to villain in the span of a single mistake that could cause millions of deaths. But, all this reminiscing was not why she was here.
As with most vulcanoid species, Ainkara's brain was one solid mass, not divided into hemispheres, therefore she could think about a great many things while at the same time conduct herself to continue her own research and development. Her shielded experiment pedestal still stood in the center of the room and she raised the force field as she then created a hologram of a mugato, the apes with white fur and a horn growing out of the top of their heads, native to the planet Neural. It was not a living being, but a computerized rendition of the beast, this one being a smaller adolescent. She had worked diligently to fine tune the animal's creation, making it as real as possible with photons and light. This one had a brain disorder, something that often happened with the species in their native environment due to various factors. And, why she had created it this way.
There was a small transporter unit within the lab to allow for adding things into the field and out of it without threat to the rest of the ship. Transporters were designed to do such, with their buffers and bio-filters not allowing the transport of anything they did not recognize. If a Jem'Hadar with a personal cloak tried to use a transporter to get aboard ship, the buffers would detect the invisible matter needing to be transported and immediately halt the transmission due to the fact that a Jem'hadar was not allowed to beam aboard a Starfleet vessel or facility without permission. They were a threat and as such the transporter would automatically lock them in the matter stream and alert Security before they ever materialized, keeping them in a holding pattern until directed to continue the energizing process.
Placing a small metallic case within the transporter pad, opening it to reveal what appeared to be nothing, Ainkara stepped back and energized. There was the absolute tiniest visual of the transporter working inside the palm sized box, with her quantum bio-implants being moved from their storage case and into the mugato's brain and body at various locations throughout. Reading the data on a monitor she saw they had successfully been added, with no detrimental affect to the animal, so far as the recreation was concerned. Using the most successful algorithm from her running data streams Ainkara added that to the implants, beginning the healing process at the sub-atomic level. Cell by cell, nucleus by nucleus.
As she watched her readings, and the mugato facsimile, she could see no changes as of yet. It could take time so she rolled a stool over and sat down, closing her eyes to meditate while she waited. The quantum bio-implants could do wonders for Starfleet medical, allowing physicians to see to patients without ever touching them, allowing the implants to do what they were designed to. Everything a body needed to heal itself was already there. All the implants did was accelerate that process at the sub-atomic level, one cell at a time, in a very limited amount of time. So, a head injury that normally took weeks to heal properly, could now be taken care of within hours. If the process she was using was successful. Hence, experimentation. Research.
With patience Kara waited and meditated.
