#130 Begin Anew

Posted on Sun Jan 8th, 2023 @ 2:59pm by Lieutenant JG Ainkara "Kara" {Meji}

Mission: BUGS OH NO!!
Location: USS Amandora
Timeline: current

ON:

Ainkara's initial experiment had failed. The quantum bio-implants had began to do what they were designed to do, and then they suffered a failure. Now, the quest was to determine why. She stood as still as a statue as her eyes looked at the monitors for the various microscopes and bio-sensors. One screen was the algorithm, the stream constantly running as she read it, then compared that data with where the implants had began to falter.

"Computer, put the works of Adzhin-Dall on a screen, and also her mate, Chitirih-Ra-Payjh, on another." The computer complied and Ainkara began to read their work. Adzhin-Dall was a quantum physicist and her mate was a mathematician. Neither had been well known for many years since their work had not been translatable from the original Deltan. Only recently had those works been translated by both, to let others see the work they had spent their lives studying and culminating. Ainkara found that their work had fascinating implications.

Ainkara was quite familiar with 'kindergarten physics'--so called because it dealt with sub-elementary particles. Over the years of her own personal work she had validated the theory. Her first breakthrough was the dissolution of elementary particles into sub-elementary particles.

Quarks have a fractional charge of one-third or two-thirds, and attributes such as charm and strangeness. The sub-elementary particles had fractional charge as well: four-ninths and one-ninth, the squares of the charges of the quark. According to her own way of seeing things, they could be sorted further by five unmistakable marks, which she had designated taste, tardiness, humor, cleanliness, and ambition.

In her mind Ainkara referred to the sub-elementary particles as 'snarks' and 'boojums'. The names were quite appropriate in her opinion. After working out the math for a while she discovered that the two entities are actually images of one another, one real, one virtual. Her own set of formulae was up on a screen showing the transformation that proved the mathematical equivalence of the two separate particle-waves.

"Computer, reset equipment for the construction of nano-bots and quantum mechanics."

Again, the machine warbled its affirmation and acknowledgement, all equipment being reset and beginning the construction effort anew. Once it began Ainkara decided she needed to refresh her mind with a different environment. Stepping away, switching one's thoughts to something else, was often a good way to see things that you could not before. With that in mind she left her lab and went for a walk.
