Sequestered in the back of the Shuttle on his way back to the Amandora, Hurd was deep in thought and filled with conflicting emotions. On the one hand, he was honored and grateful to be heading to the only home he had left and to the only Family he had. On the other, he was filled with deep regret and anguish over the way he had treated people, his actions, and, from his point of view, the dereliction of his duties. All of this and more made him sick to his stomach. He knew, in his heart, he had a lot of apologies and damage control to do.

A few hours later, Hurd was jerked out of his thoughts when the Shuttle Pilot said, "Major, we are 5 minutes from docking, request permission to transmit Security Clearance." Looking up with a smile, Hurd said, joviality, "Permission Granted". The pilot tuned, tapped a few buttons on her console, and a few moments later Hurd felt the soft thump as the shuttle set down. Grabbing his duffel, Hurd nodded politely at the Pilot and stepped out onto the deck. Looking around and smiling, Hurd thought, "Well, might as well check in with Security". Walking to the nearest Turbolift, he keyed in his destination and was off.

A few moments later he stepped off into Security, a place he had rarely been to. Looking to his left, he saw the Chief at his desk. Walking over, he dropped his bag, saluted and said, Major David Hurd reporting back aboard Sir".

Jamie looked up only to see Major Hurd, then he stood out of respect and extended his hand "No need to salute Major; it's nice to have you back" O'Connell stated, as the two Officers shook hands, then brought up the screen and checked Hurd in "You're all set Major and are officially an active member of the Crew once again."

"Actually ", Hurd said, his head lowered, "I owe you an apology ". Hurd sighed as he added, "A Big One". Collecting his thoughts, he continued. "I have been nothing but a rude, angry, egotistical jerk who has overstepped his bounds and authority far too many times". Looking the Man in the eyes he added, extending his hand, "I give you my word as a Starfleet Marine it will not happen again, and I truly hope we can work together going forward in a spirit of Friendship and Cooperation".

The Commander was quite surprised at the Major's statement, although he was correct in his assessment of his past actions, so Jamie would put the past behind them as he smiled "As far as I'm concerned Major you and I will start with a clean slate from this day forward. Thank you for your honesty it takes a big man to admit to his faults" he commented as he shook Hurd's hand again.

Releasing the hand after he finished shaking it, Hurd nodded. "You are quite right, and for me to admit was wrong took a gut punch, but I own it." Cracking a smile, he said, I'm glad we are starting off fresh, I really am." "Is their anything else, I have to go see West to formally re-assume my command".

"No Major you're all checked in and I sincerely hope this will be a fresh start for you" Commander O'Connell commented "Say hi to Captain West for me.....he's a good man."
